Arrests


May 20

Police charge 64-year-old Barry Gruber, of Cornwall-on-Hudson, with harassment in the second degree with physical contact after he was involved with a dispute with a bus driver over the beeping of the bus’s horn near his residence.

Police charge 34-year-old Jermaine Vandervort, of Newburgh, with harassment in the second degree with physical contact and with attempted aggravated harassment in the second degree.

Police charge Janell Decker, 45,and Wayne Decker, 49, both of Newburgh, with harassment in the second degree with physical contact.

Monday, May 17
Police issue a ticket to a driver on Avenue A.

8:34 pm Police respond to a domestic dispute between a girlfriend-boyfriend that occurred after the pair had a minor motor vehicle accident on Mountain Road.


Tuesday, May
3:21 am Police issue a ticket to a driver on Hudson Street.

3:25 am Police assist town police with a report of a female being held down by two male subjects near Prima Pizza.

7:14 pm Police take a report of fraudulent charges made to a resident’s credit card.


Wednesday, May 19

1:48 pm Police respond to a bicycle vs. motorist accident on Dock Hill Road in which the bicyclist suffered minor injuries.

8:01 pm Police issue a traffic ticket to a driver on Mountain Road.

8:09 pm Police respond to a report of a possible intoxicated female walking through yards in the Homeland area. Woman says she took her shoes off because her feet hurt and she couldn’t walk barefoot on the sidewalk.

8:28 pm Police take a report of a chainsaw stolen from a work truck around May 12.

11:47 pm Police came upon a vehicle parked at the dead end of West Street and find four subjects, all under the age of 21, standing next to the vehicle with an 18-pack of Bud light beer and one loose can. All subjects called their parents to come pick them up and the alcohol is confiscated.


Friday, May 21
Police take a report of a harassing message left on Facebook.

Police issue seven tickets to drivers on Shore Road.

Police issue a ticket to a driver on Hudson Street.


Saturday, May 22
Police issue parking tickets to three vehicles parked without a permit at the riverfront.

10:46 am Police investigate a report of graffiti spray painted on the side of a building on Hudson Street overnight. An unknown subject had written numbers in black paint.

Police respond to a report of a garbage can at Donahue Memorial Park that was smoldering after hot coals were dumped in it. The fire department responds and extinguishes it.

Police issue tickets to three drivers on River Avenue.

9:38 pm Police respond to a report of smoke at Drew’s on the Square. (see story)

Police issue three tickets to two drivers on Mountain Road.


Sunday, May 23
11:08 am Police investigate a report of harassment by a neighbor.

Police issue a parking ticket to a vehicle parked without a permit at the riverfront.

Police issue a speeding ticket to a driver on Rotue 9W.

Police issue a ticket to a driver on Homeland Avenue.

Police respond to a father-son domestic dispute.

10:35 am Police issue a ticket to driver for having an unrestrained child in the rear seat.

Police issue two parking tickets.
