General News: Scholarships for Female Law Students

The Women’s Bar Association of Orange & Sullivan Counties Foundation is offering two scholarships in 2010, the Rose Rosen Memorial Scholarship and the Susan Keiser Memorial Scholarship. To be eligible, a person must be a woman currently registered and attending, or accepted for Fall admission to, law school and have graduated from a high school or college in either Orange or Sullivan Counties, New York.
Applications must be postmarked by May 17, 2010 and are now available by contacting Maureen Crush, [email protected] or at 845 790-9122 or request a copy by mail from WBAOSC Foundation, PO Box 10782, Newburgh, NY 12252-0782.
The Rose Rosen Memorial Scholarship is named in memory of Women’s Bar Association of Orange & Sullivan Counties President and Founding Member, Rose Rosen, who upon graduation from law school was denied admission to the bar due to her gender, but persevered to a successful practice of law. The Susan Keiser Memorial Scholarship is named in memory of another former President and Founding Member of WBAOSC, who exemplified commitment to her community and the advancement of women in the law.
