Letters to the Editor: Help Save NYMA

May 05, 2010

To the Editor:

We, former cadets at NYMA, share the same sentiments that CornwalIian's share. We, too, have fond memories of walking the street of Cornwall, playing our rival Storm King in sports and eating the world famous pizza at Prima Pizza.

We ask Cornwall's residents to join with us and help save our beloved NYMA. To that end, The New York Military Academy Associates Of Graduates has set up a Text to Donate campaign.

The New York Military Academy Alumni (AOG) ask the residents of Cornwall and their friends to help save NYMA. Text NYMA (space) $20 to 27138. People can donate as much as they want, however, a $20 minimum is suggested. We have a lofty, but doable, goal of raising $2.5 million by June of this year.  For information, people may call  201-497-0695 or  email: [email protected].  Follow us on twitter at http://twitter.com/nymaalumni or  http:/twitter.com/savenyma.

With everyone's help we hope to open the doors in September to welcome those returning seniors who will graduate in 2011. We would also continue a long standing tradition of pledging "New Guys" into the academy.

Thank you.

Pledge NYMA only through Nymafoundation.org. Donations directly to NYMA will go toward paying of debt or current operations, but won't guarantee that NYMA will stay open. NYMA Foundation is asking for PLEDGES ONLY. $5 million dollars in pledges/donations can ensure NYMA opening. 6/15 deadline! $$ will be transferred only AFTER a controlling number of the trustees resign and Foundation board members are seated.
