Cornwall, N.Y. ---- Come to the Cornwall Garden Club Annual Plant Sale on Saturday, May 13, at the park grounds in front of the Cornwall Town Hall from 8:30 a.m. to
12:30 p.m. and show your support for the Garden Club’s community beautification efforts.
One of the Garden Club’s main projects this year is the restoration of the colonial herb garden at the Sands Ring Historic Homestead Museum. According to Eileen Tulloch, co-chair for the project, the garden was not tended for several years because of safety concerns and the subsequent construction. “We would like to do a major renovation of the garden,” said Tulloch. “New soil and plantings appropriate to the era of the homestead are included in the plans. Earnings from the plant sale will be used to fund it all,” she added.
The Garden Club’s plant sale is a springtime tradition in Cornwall,” said Marge Krupa, also co-chair for the Sands Ring project. “We hold the sale the day before Mother’s Day to make it easy to buy a perfect gift for Mom.”
The sale will feature many of the best flowers and plants our local growers have to offer. “We can count on their plants to be of outstanding quality,” said Krupa. “The sale will include a terrific selection of spectacular hanging baskets, vegetables, herbs, annuals and perennials.” She added that many deer resistant plants will be available for purchase and that Garden Club members will be available to answer your gardening questions.
Other traditional favorites at the plant sale include the baked goods table with delicious homemade treats prepared by Cornwall Garden Club members. There will be a silent auction with numerous interesting items and services available for bids, and Grandma’s Attic will offer a variety of treasures.
For questions regarding the plant sale, please contact Andrea Hamburger at 845-534-9088. Those interested in joining or learning more about the Cornwall Garden Club are invited to come to the plant sale and speak with club members.
Remember that by purchasing your spring plants at the Cornwall Garden Club sale you will help restore the garden at our local treasure, the Sands Ring Homestead, and you will make your own homestead more beautiful as well.
