General News: Cornwall Connecting Lawn Party
April 26, 2010
From the Cornwall Public Library
Non-profit organizations providing programs and services for residents of the Cornwall Central School District are invited to participate in the inaugural Cornwall Connecting Lawn Party at the Cornwall Public Library on Friday, May 21st from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.
The goal of the event is to give organizations an opportunity to:
• Promote the programs and services they provide.
• Identify opportunities for adult volunteers and students needing community service hours.
• Educate the public how they may make contributions (no active solicitation will take place).
The library will organize and ‘floor plan’ the event, placing organizations alphabetically by organization name in a space on the lawn approximately 8’ x 8’. No electric will be available. Organizations are required to bring their own supplies, table(s) and chair(s) as follows:
• One or two tables maximum, no larger than 30” x 6’ each.
• Organizational signage/banner for front of table(s).
• No more than 4 chairs per booth.
• Promotional materials, etc.
“The library will be promoting the event through all venues of local media, with in-library flyers and posters, and on the library’s website,” said event coordinator, Beth Texter. The Friends of the Library will be having a used book sale, and library staff are planning special children’s activities during the event. “Other activities are in the works,” Texter said. A rain date has been set for Sunday, May 23rd, from Noon to 4PM.
There is no cost to participate, but organizations must be pre-registered. Deadline for registration is Friday, May 14th. Registration forms are available at the library, from the library’s website (www.cornwallpubliclibrary.org), or via e-mail.
