To the Editor:
On behalf of the trustees, library director and staff of Cornwall Public Library, I wish to extend our deep appreciation to the 481 voters who turned out on Tuesday, April 13th and approved our 2010/2011 Library Operating Budget by a 3-to-1 margin: 364 yes/117 no. We are grateful for our community’s ‘vote of confidence’ on a budget that took a great deal of research, discussion, and number-crunching to execute.
We congratulate our newest Trustee who was elected on the 13th – Susanne Vondrak. Susanne will begin her 5-year term on July 1, 2010, as Lucinda Poindexter steps down after completing her term. We offer our thanks to the two other trustee candidates – Cheryl Buescher and Gail Gold-Berger – for their interest in serving as a library trustee. We sincerely hope they will both return as candidates in next year’s election.
Personally, I find serving as a trustee of Cornwall Public Library deeply rewarding because I know the value of this library in our great community. My fellow trustees and I, working in partnership with our Director and library staff, will continue to strive to do our very best in maintaining and growing your library as a vibrant, valued institution bringing programs and services to all residents of the Cornwall Central School District.
