Monday, March 16
Police issue a ticket to a driver for speeding in a school zone on Hudson Street.

2:21 am Police respond to a request for assistance with a disruptive bar patron.
6:48 pm Police take a report of an iPod, an Ipod adapter and $90 in cash taken from a vehicle that had been parked overnight on Maple Avenue extension. The vehicle’s owner said that she left the vehicle unlocked on Saturday, March 13 and when she returned the next day, the driver’s door was locked, the interior had been ransacked and KitKat wrappers were found throughout the car.
Tuesday, March 17
Police issue a traffic ticket to a driver on Academy Avenue for talking on the cellphone while driving.
3:10 pm Police observe a driver talking on a cellphone and not wearing his seatbelt as he drove on Hudson Street. The officer proceeded to stop the driver, who turned in the Cornwall-on-Hudson Elementary School and then drove the wrong way on the Maple Avenue extension. The driver, C. Timmons, of Highland Mills, is charge with aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle, driving while talking on the phone, driving on a one-way street, driving to avoid a stop, and with not wearing a seat belt. His vehicle is also impounded.
Thursday, March 19
11:15 am Police investigate a report of a DPW employee who was struck with a BB gun pellet in the collar of his jacket while emptying garbage cans that morning on Hudson Street.
4:57 pm Police issue tickets to a driver on Hudson Street for a tinted window and an expired inspection sticker.
8:11 pm Police intervene in a dispute over the ownership of a black cat.
8:33 pm Police respond to a report of a fire near the river front and advise two fishermen to extinguish their campfire.
Friday, March 20
Police issue tickets to three vehicle parked at the riverfront without a permit.
Saturday, March 21
Police assist town police with a fight in progress at the Shamrock Tavern.
Police issue a ticket to a driver going 85 mph in a 55 mph zone on Route 9W.
Police respond to a possible fight in progress on Bayview Avenue along with a town unit and find subjects filming a movie.

After all the reports I've read about items being stolen from unlocked vehicles, can someone please explain to me WHY people still leave their cars unlocked and leave valuable items in their cars? I just don't get it!
