To the Cornwall Community:
I was back in Haiti on Saturday and was able to deliver the second load of stuff that many of you helped me gather.
In the attached photos you can see some of the "blue tarp" camps we fly over when we arrive in Port-au-Prince, Haiti. These camps dot the landscape over a 30 mile stretch of fairly dense population, the middle of which is about where the quake was centered.
Other photos show workers enthusiastically getting their tents. My friend JP has done a great job keeping track of things so that tents are distributed to specific individuals by name. In one photo you can see him practically overrun by folks eager to get their name on the list. Working together we have delivered about 50 tents so far.
I was told the portable gazebo seen is the one photo will be used as a medical clinic. Sophia, the smaller of the two girls, says a cousin is providing medical services in her yard and has plans to put it to very good use. Ursule, the other girl, was thrilled with the 10 person, "Olympic Lodge" tent that a Cornwallite generously purchased new which will be used as her family's new home. Your generosity is definitely changing someone's life.
Since we don't leave the airport this is all that I have right now. We have asked for photos of the tents in use but they might be a bit hard to get as a camera is far from a priority right now. I'll share the photos with you should I get any.
Thanks to everyone who has helped. I will be back seven or eight times in April so if there are anymore tents hidden in basements or garages out there please dust them off and give me a call.
