The secretary for the village department of public works and the building inspector moved into temporary headquarters, a mobile trailer parked outside of the DPW building on Shore Road, last week but the building still has not been issued a certificate of occupancy.
DPW superintendent said a temporary certificate of occupancy will be issued after hurricane ties were added Wednesday morning to the mobile trailer, which sits an high-wind area. Halvorsen said a final C of O may be issued after the village installs a ramp for handicap access to the trailer.
He’s got an estimate of $2,800 for the ramp construction. The ten hurricane tie-downs cost just under $700, Halvorsen said.
Meanwhile, Halvorsen and the rest of the DPW employees are still working out of the village hall and the water department is based at the water filter plant in New Windsor.
The building inspector, who is a part-time employee of the village, was not available for comment on Wednesday.
