Monday, March 8
3:50 am Police arrest Jose Martinez, 27, of Newburgh, for possession of a weapon in the fourth degree, violation of the alcoholic beverage law and for improper lane use after stopping the vehicle he was driving on Route 94 and Jackson Avenue.
10:13 am Police respond to a fight between two females at the high school in which one was treated at the hospital for a laceration and an assault charge was prepared for the other student.
11:37 am Police take a harassment complaint from a subject who said she was pushed by another parent at the bus stop.
12:31 pm Police assist a subject who wanted his son to leave his property. Son complied.
2:10 pm Police charge 23-year-old Ashley Gentile, of Cornwall, with having an unlicensed dog and allowing the dog to go at large after it alledgedly attached another person’s dog on Main Street.
11:10 pm Police move along juveniles skateboarding at the middle school.
Tuesday, March 9
8:08 am Police issue a ticket to a driver for an item hanging from the rearview mirror while driving on Jackson Avenue.
10:55 am Police charge a 45-year-old homeless man, Michael Scott, with petty larceny and possession of stolen property after he was observed taking health and beauty products from Key Food in a backpack, then attempting to flee in a yellow cab.
11:48 am Police take a report of an attempted fraud against a senior citizen.
2:34 pm Police investigate a possible burglary from a residence on Harris Lane in which a window and a wooden door was found to be broken. No items were missing from the residence.
4:26 pm Police issue a ticket to a driver with an expired inspection sticker.
6:18 pm Police respond to a deer vs. motor vehicle accident on Route 94.
11:37 pm Police issue a ticket to a driver with no valid driver’s license.
Wednesday, March 10
2:59 pm Police issue a ticket to a driver with an expired inspection sticker.
3:20 pm Police charge 20-year-old Juan Vega, of New Windsor, with aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle and with driving a vehicle with an expired inspection sticker. His vehicle is towed.
4:15 pm Police respond to a motor vehicle accident in the parking lot of Cornwall hospital.
5:20 pm Police arrest Jacob Colon, 21, of New Windsor, on a warrant from the city of Newburgh.
6:44 pm Police respond to a deer vs. motor vehicle accident on Orrs Mills Road.
Thursday, March 11
7:04 am Police issue a ticket to a driver for failing to stop at a red light at Laurel Avenue and Route 9W.
8:18 am Police issue a ticket to a driver for having a view obstructed by a GPS in the driver’s side windshield.
9:16 am Police issue a ticket to a driver for going 72 mph in a 55 mph zone on Route 9W.
10:30 am Police issue a ticket to a driver on Clove Road for not wearing his seat belt.
10:44 am Police issue a ticket to a driver for speeding, going 62 mph in a 40 mph zone, on Route 94.
12:55 pm Police charge 28-year-old Ernesto Torres, of Newburgh, with aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle, with an equipment violation and with false personation after he gave a false name to police.
2:54-3:30 pm Police issue tickets to five drivers with expired inspection stickers.
Friday, March 12
12:51 pm Police respond to a two car accident on Angola Road with no injuries.
3:10 pm Police charge 20-year-old Juan Vega, of New Windsor, with aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle, unlawful possession of marijuana, and three equipment violations after stopping his vehicle at the Chadeayne traffic circle.
4:41 pm Police issue a ticket to a driver with an expired inspection sticker.
11:07 pm Police respond to a deer vs. motor vehicle accident on Angola Road.
Saturday, March 13
12:30 am Police respond to a report of disorderly juveniles at a party and advise them.
5:27 pm Police respond to a mother-son verbal domestic dispute.
9:34 pm Police respond to a report of a subject on the front porch of an Angola Road resident. The subject was soaking wet and said that he had hitch hiked from Philadelphia with the intention of going to visit a relative in Vermont. He said that he was kicked out of a vehicle by the operator on I-87 and he was trying to get out of the rain but cut his head after falling in the snow. Subject requested transport to the hospital but first he produced a small glass pipe from his pants pocket that contained a small quantity of marijuana. Police charge the man, 22-year-old Ellis Kantrowitz, of Broomall, PA, with unlawful possession of marijuana.
Sunday, March 14
3:15 am Police charge 27-year-old James Ortiz, of Highland Mills, with driving while intoxicated, speeding, improper lane change, and arrest him on a bench warrant after he was observed committing a vehicle and traffic violation on Main Street

I take issue with the term "deer vs. motor vehicle". First, the deer are not out to 'get' the car; second, it is certainly not a fair match-up. Do we refer to guardrail vs. car collisions...?

Guardrails don't cause accidents, deer do.
