Letters to the Editor: Argenio's Comment is Right and Wrong

February 22, 2010

To the Editor:

Do I sense that the appointees of Joe Gross (with strong backing from Deputy Mayor Barbara Gosda and the third ‘G’, Rick Goia) are losing their bearings in the run-up to the Village election?

One of these appointees, Andrew Argenio, comments that I’ve had “…a personal and business relationship with Deke (Hazirjian)” (see article).

Right and…wrong.

For the record, Deke and I have shared parallel career paths: he in television lighting and me, creating sound for picture. Both of us earning our Emmy’s along the way.

As for business, the only dealings Deke and I have had over the years we’ve both lived in Cornwall, is the thousands of dollars both of us have spent out of our own pockets to create two ‘Sound & Light’ shows for the Nature Museum, and the money’s we put out to help invigorate the 400th Hudson, Fulton, Champlain Anniversary of 2009.

I’ve never made much of our personal expenditures (nor has Deke), and I’d prefer to keep it that way.

Sincerely,
Lee Murphy

Comments:

To offer clarification, the only reason I raised the issue of a relationship was because Lee raised it himself, when he recused himself of voting when Yoga Mountain was before the planning board, due to his relationship with the owner, Mr. Harijian. Further, the "run-up" to the Village election, as you put it, has no bearing on my comments as I am not running for any office. It surprises me that someone who presents a pro-business attitude would be against any new start up in the Village. This is not about your personal expenditures on behalf of the Village, which I'm sure we all appreciate, but about public decisions being influenced by personal relationships.

Respectfully,
Andrew Argenio

Yes, I was also so surprised in how Lee wanted to stop this shop from opening. Something smells fishy.

And Mr Murphy the 3 G's as you call them has put Gov back in the hands of the people and fixing problems that occurred when "the people" did not have a say.

Mr.Buescher, can you please enlighten me what you mean by "the 3G's have put Gov back in the hands of the people" what has been accomplished but spliting up the village board and a whole bunch of arguing? All i see from the "3G's" are thier personal agendas!

Lee,

Deke and yourself have done much to make this Village a better place. I also appreciate you and everyone else who put in so many hours on the Village Comprehensive Plan. I believe there are many people in the Village who agree with me. Thank You.
