To the Editor:
I am fit-to-be-tied about the injustice Orange county is forcing on its employees and all its small business subcontractors by not issuing its end-of-the-year forms when required. The Oracle system was supposed to be implemented shortly after April, 2009 and is still not up and working as of this date. There are some county departments that have not filed a financial or other report to the county or their oversight committees. I wonder how they are doing?
We have tried to find out when the W-2s will be issued and the finance department can give us no time line. We are doing substantial economic damage to some of our employees and their families who now have to wait to file and are putting numerous small businesses into jeopardy in the quarterly filing of their taxes.
Fact: An Orange County Accountability Officer would have been able to detect this problem and helped solve it!
I can not believe that the issue of not issuing the required tax forms by January 31st came out without prior legislative body notification and just one day after all the Republican Legislators voted to not consider the Accountability Office position.
