From Cornwall Public Library
Norma Chang, The Travelling Gourmet®, will be at Cornwall Public Library on Thursday, February 4th, to present two programs on Chinese food and customs, just in time for the Lunar New Year.
• “A Little Taste of China” – 4:15-5:15PM – geared to children in grades K-5 with an adult, who will get a glimpse into the life of a Chinese family living in China during show-&-tell of various everyday items. Norma will compare the differences and similarities of school supplies and household objects used in China and the United States, and will educate about different Chinese vegetables and ingredients that are becoming readily available at local supermarkets.
• “Low Fat – High Flavor Wokking” – 7:00 to 8:30PM – geared to teens and adults. Norma will demonstrate a healthy and easy way of preparing crisp-tender vegetables and succulent morsels of meat using very little oil yet maintaining that prized stir-fry flavor. During this enjoyable, interactive, and highly conversational program, participants will learn about Chinese ingredients, helpful kitchen hints, practical do-ahead ideas, time-saving tips, and how to make substitutes. There will be taste samples within the program, and recipes to take home.
Norma Chang is well-known through a tri-state area as a food lover who enjoys sharing her skills and ideas with others through her many food-related activities. Norma believes that cooking should be fun and that the food we prepare should not only be good for you, but should look and taste good too. This philosophy is reflected in her cookbooks, demonstrations and programs.
Both programs require registration in advance by Wednesday, February 3rd. To register, stop in the library or call 534-8282.
