Village of Cornwall-on-Hudson Police Department

Sunday, August 12
11:15 a.m.-2:44 p.m.  Police issue four summonses to vehicles parked without a permit at the riverfront.

9:21 p.m.  Police observe a large number of juveniles skateboarding at the elementary school and tell them to leave the area.

11:32 p.m.  Police respond to a report of someone knocking on a door of a residence on Avenue A, then running away.  While investigating, a report of similar activity on Hudson Street came in and a group of juveniles were found and advise to stop any similar activity they may be involved with.

Monday, August 13
3:00 a.m.  Police call the mother of a 17-year-old girl wghho appeared to have been drinking after she was found hiding with others behind a residence on Hudson Street.

10:56 p.m.  Police respond to a complaint and disperse a group of juveniles on Hudson Street.


Tuesday, August 14, 2007
1:28 a.m.  Patrol of COH elementary school rear grounds reveals four teenagers loitering on the playground equipment.  They are advised to leave.

3:45 p.m.  Police respond to a report of vandalism at the village bandstand and find two stantions missing and the “Concert Tonight” sign torn in half.

10:14 p.m.  Police respond to a complaint from Cumberland Farms store and remove a large group of juveniles.


Wednesday, August 15
7:22 a.m.  Police arrest a 14-year-old male from Cornwall-on-Hudson after he was found in possession of a wheelchair and two bicycles that had been reported stolen from two residences in Cornwall-on-Hudson.

6:59 p.m.  Police respond to a motor vehicle accident on Hudson Street outside of the police station.

9:52 p.m.  Police respond to a report of a male screaming in the area of the DB Mart. A subject says he was speaking loud, not yelling, and is advised to keep it down.

11:18 p.m.  Police respond to a report of a large group of juveniles in a dangerous spot in the road near Washington Street and tell subjects to disperse.


Thursday, August 16
2:44 a.m.  Police charge Wilson Lindemann, 20, of New Windsor, with DWI and two vehicle and traffic violations.

1:39 p.m.  Police respond to a report of a rattlesnake on Weeks Avenue, where a resident saw a rattlesnake by his door facing the driveway and the snake was highly upset.  Snake gone on arrival.

4 p.m.  Police investigate a report of criminal mischief at the Cornwall Presbyterian Church on Hudson Street in which a window was broken, an air conditioner damaged, and debris marred a church door.  Apparently, apples had been removed from a tree, damaging the tree, then were thrown at the church building.  Pastor Dan Russell said that he would settle for restitution for the broken window.


Friday, August 17
3:56 a.m.  Police respond to a report that a garage door opener had been taken from a car during the night.

8:31 p.m.  Police issue a summons for a vehicle and traffic violation to a 19-year-old male from New Windsor after he was stopped on Shore Road for driving through a stop sign at River Avenue.

8:40 p.m.  Police detain two 15-year-olds from Cornwall-on-Hudson and New Windsor after they are observed drinking beer in the rear of Cornwall-on-Hudson elementary school.  The subjects are transported to police station and picked up by their parents.


Saturday, August 18
12:06 a.m.  Police respond to a report of juveniles at the DB Mart and tell them to move along.

4:28 a.m.  Police respond to a report of a fight in the parking lot of Tom’s Tavern.

10:48 a.m.  Police investigate a report of a pair of sunglasses, an Ipod and FM transmitter taken from a vehicle parked on Pine Street overnight.

5:05 p.m.  Police investigate a report of an Ipod and stereo equipment taken from an car parked on Homeland Avenue.

6:39 p.m.  Police issue a summonses to a 32-year-old male from New Windsor for a vehicle and traffic violation while driving a motorcycle on Route 9W.

8:50 p.m.  Police issue a summons for failure to stop at a stop sign at River Avenue and Shore Road to a 17-year-old female from Newburgh.

9:04 p.m.  Police issue a summons for a vehicle and traffic violation on Route 9W to a 36-year-old male from Yonkers.

10:03 p.m.  Police charge Devlin Shand, 19, of Cornwall, and Maura Leahy, 20, of Cornwall-on-Hudson, with possession of alcohol after they were found with Mike’s Hard Lemonade in their vehicle.

11:09  p.m.  Police issue two summonses for vehicle and traffic violations on Hudson Street to a 16-year-old male from Mountainville.
