Monday, July 23
7:55 a.m.  Police investigate a report of a hit-and-run accident on Taylor Road in which a silver vehicle struck a rock wall, causing extensive damage.  The vehicle is located at an auto collision shop and the driver is issued a summons for leaving the scene of an accident.

8:11 a.m.  Police respond to an accident between a school bus and a van at Jackson Avenue and Route 94 in which the van swerved to miss the bus and hit a sign post.

8:45 a.m.  Police respond to a motor vehicle on Hasbrouck Avenue.

3:09 p.m.  Police issue a summons for a vehicle and traffic violation on Route 9W to a 73-year-old male from Walden.

5:00 p.m.  Police respond to a report of a suicidal female and transport her to Cornwall hospital.

Tuesday, July 24
2:23 a.m.  Police checking the town park note that the Little League Drive sign appeared to be knocked over.

6:26 a.m.  Police investigate a report from a woman whose car was keyed overnight while parked on Union Street.   She said her husband had called from work to say his car had damage identical to hers.

9:24-9:48 a.m.  Police issue four parking summonses to cars parked at the train station.

10:14 a.m. Police issue a summons for a vehicle and traffic violation on Route 32 to a 24-year-old male from Highland Mills.

10:33 a.m. Police issue a summons for a vehicle and traffic violation on Route 32 to a 24-year-old female from Newburgh.

1:11 p.m.  Police issue a parking summons to a car parked at the train station.

7:00 p.m.  Police investigate a report of a Ford pick up truck that had been keyed along the driver’s side while parked on Clinton Street.

7:55 p.m.  Police respond to a report of a 7-year-old boy who accidentally stuck and lodged his right pinky finger into a plastic car seat.  COVAC assisted to free the child’s finger.

8:03 p.m. Police issue a summons for a vehicle and traffic violation on Route 9W to a 32-year-old female from Haverstraw.
8:26 p.m. Police issue a summons for a vehicle and traffic violation on Route 9W to a 22-year-old female.

9:03 p.m.  Police are flagged down by a person on Route 9W requesting transport to her home in Newburgh and police give her a ride.

Wednesday, July 25
1:21 a.m.  Police find two bicycles at the intersection of Elm St. and Laurel Avenue and put them in the PD garage.

7:14 a.m.  Police investigate a report of a BMW parked on Dyer Lane that was keyed and the BMW insignia removed overnight.

7:24 a.m.  Police investigate the theft of stereo equipment, dvd player and golf clubs from a Mercedes parked on Canterbury Avenue.  The car was also keyed on the driver side and the Mercedes insignia was removed.

10:00 a.m. Police issue a summons for a vehicle and traffic violation on Route 32 to a 20-year-old male from Washingtonville.

10:51 a.m.  Police investigate the removal of BMW hood emblem while it was parked overnight on Poplar Street.

10:51 a.m.  Police investigate vandalism to a Ford Escape and Toyota Avalon parked in a driveway on Pelham Drive.  Both vehicles were scratched.

2:00 p.m. Police issue two summonses for vehicle and traffic violations on Route 94 to a 20-year-old male from Cornwall.

2:36 p.m. Police issue a summons for a vehicle and traffic violation on Route 9W to a 19-year-old female from Monroe.

4:36 p.m. Police issue a summons for a vehicle and traffic violation on Route 32 to a 22-year-old male from Walden.

5:03 p.m.  Police respond to a complaint of children yelling while playing in their back yard and ask them to tone it down.

5:46 p.m.  Police respond to a motor vehicle accident at Quaker Avenue and Route 32 in which the vehicle driver hit a motorcycle.  There were no injuries.

6:01 p.m.  Police investigate vandalism to two vehicles parked on Canterbury Road.  The emblems from a  Nissan Pathfinder and Honda Civic were removed and the Honda was scratched.

7:27 p.m.  Police respond to a complaint of a disorderly youth at Chadeayne Circle.  His mother said the youth was drunk and requested police assist to bring him home.

8:05 p.m.  Police investigate vandalism to three vehicles parked on Pelham Drive in which an emblem was removed from a Mazda and the car’s hood was dented.  The door of a Nissan Sentra had been pried open and the frame bent.  The emblem from an Acura was also missing.

10:08 a.m.  Police investigate vandalism to a Ford Explorer parked on Russell Street.  The vehicle was keyed on the driver’s side.

11:12 p.m.  Police investigate a report of vandalism to a BMW parked on Russell Street.  The car was scratched and the emblem removed.

Thursday, July 26
11:16 a.m.  Police stop a male carrying a bag of cans on Route 32 and man says he is homeless and living in the woods in the area.  Subject was advised and sent on his way.

11:46 a.m.  Police respond to a car vs. deer accident on Route 32.

1:47 p.m.  Police assist village officer in locating disorderly youths in the area of Spruce Street and strongly advise them.

1:52 p.m.  Police issue a summons for a vehicle and traffic violation on Route 94 to a 31-year-old male.

2:45 p.m. Police respond to a three-car motor vehicle accident on Route 32.

4:56 p.m.  Police respond to a one-car motor vehicle accident on Orrs Mill Road in which the driver lost control of the vehicle due to loose gravel and went up and embankment.

5:50 p.m.  Police respond to a disturbance between two men on Willow Avenue.

7:03 p.m.  Police investigate vandalism to two BMWs parked on Pelham Drive in which the emblems were removed and the vehicles scratched.

8:05 p.m.  Police respond to Cornwall hospital for a suicidal mental health patient who was attempting to leave the hospital.  After refusing to return on her own will, the officer handcuffed the patient and brought her to the ER where she was placed in restraints by hospital staff.

Friday, July 27
9:27 a.m.  Police respond to a motor vehicle accident on Mine Hill Road in which a vehicle struck a rock wall and rolled over.

11:04 a.m.  Police issue a summons for a vehicle and traffic violation on Route 94 to a 42-year-old female from New Windsor.

12:47 p.m.  Police investigate the theft of a car stereo from a car parked on Mill Street.  The car’s window was broken to gain access.

1:06 p.m.  Police issue a summons for a vehicle and traffic violation on Route 94 to a 34-year-old female from New Windsor.

4:12 p.m.  Police investigate vandalism to a Honda Pilot parked on Pelham Drive in which the vehicle’s emblem was taken.

4:48 p.m.  Police issue a summons for driving 66 mph in a 40 mph zone on Route 94 to a 46-year-old male from Monroe.

5:41 p.m.  Police respond to a report of group of youths at the post office and advise them to move.

6:28 p.m.  Police issue a summons for driving 50 mph in a 30 mph zone to a 51-year-old male from Monroe.

6:59 p.m.  Police respond to a report of suspicious persons looking into his vehicle.  The man and female were visiting a neighbor who later said the pair had never seen a Cadillac before.

9:11 p.m.  Police issued a summons to a 40-year-old female from Cornwall for driving a vehicle with one headlight not working.

9:13 p.m.  Police respond to a disabled vehicle on Route 9W and arrest Charles McCants, 32, of New Windsor, on an outstanding warrant from Rockland County.

10:17 p.m.  Police respond to Twin Ponds Road for a minor motor vehicle accident.

Saturday, July 28
7:02 a.m.  Police arrest John Shay, 21, of Cornwall, for disorderly conduct after he appeared in the lobby of the police station dressed in boxer shorts and a short sleeve shirt.  He was bleeding from the knee and became verbally abusive to the officer, threatening to fight him.  Officer observed that Shay was highly intoxicated and he was charged after continuing his violent and threatening behavior.

9:10 a.m.  Police take a report of an Ipod that was stolen from a FedEx pacakage left at the victim’s home.

10:24 a.m.  Police issue a summons for a vehicle and traffic violation on Route 9W to a 59-year-old male from Newburgh.

10:45 a.m.  Police issue a summons for a vehicle and traffic violation on Route 9W to a 37-year-old male from Highland Falls.

12:39 p.m.  Police respond to a verbal dispute between two females.

1:35 p.m.  Police issue a summons for a vehicle and traffic violation on Route 32 to a 25-year-old female from West Islip.

2:23 p.m.  Police investigate a report of vandalism at an apartment building on Angola Road in which a cable tv wire was cut, a window broken, and a scratch to the roof of a vehicle.

7:30 p.m.  Police issue a summons for driving without a seatbelt on Route 32 to a 25-year-old male from Leesburg.

9:10 p.m.  Police respond to a report of two hikers/campers who had gotten lost from the campsite on Storm King Mountain.  Their vehicle was parked on Route 9W but the keys were at the campsite.  State park police are notified to assist.

10:52 p.m.  Police issue a summons to a driver for not dimming his headlights for approaching vehicles.

Sunday, July 29
4:59 a.m.  Police observe two subjects on bicycles on Mill Street and are questioned by police.

6:56 a.m.  Police issue a summons for a vehicle and traffic violation on Route 9W to a 21-year-old female from Cornwall.

8:41 a.m.  Police investigate a report of harassment of a resident who said that during the night outside his bedroom window his neighbor screamed obscenities and threats related to the resident’s sexual orientation.  The resident said this has been an ongoing problem.

9:30 a.m.  Police respond to a report of a domestic dispute between a man and woman.

1:05 p.m.  Police charge Andrew Johnson, 56, of Jersey City, with driving a truck with a suspended license.

7:20 p.m.  Police observe a group of youths skateboarding at the fire station and advise them that they are trespassing.

8:58 a.m.  Police issue a summons for a vehicle and traffic violation to an 18-year-old male from New Windsor.

10:55 p.m.  Police issue a summons for a vehicle and traffic violation to a 20-year-old male.
