Police Blotter: July 26-28, 2007

Village of Cornwall-on-Hudson Police Department

Thursday, July 26
1:47 p.m. Police respond to an eyewitness report of a youth on West Street seen setting something on fire under a bush. Witness said that the youth put out the fire when he realized he was being watched and fled with another youth. Police observe a youth at Cornwall-on-Hudson elementary school who matches the description given by the witness and he is advised.

4:15 p.m. Police issue a summons to a vehicle parked without a permit at the riverfront.

5:50 p.m. Police assist the town of Cornwall police with a fight between two residents of the Maplehurst Inn.

6:51 p.m. Police issue a summons to a vehicle parked without a permit at the riverfront.

Friday, July 27
12:20 a.m. Police observe two males walking on River Avenue in what appeared to be an alcohol-impaired state. Police escort the two to Hudson Street and the brother of one them picked them up.

10:07 a.m. Police respond to a report of criminal mischief on Homeland Avenue in which a garbage can was knocked over and a 6-inch swastika was painted on the cover of the can with spray paint.

9:13 p.m. Police respond to assist a disabled vehicle on Route 9W and enroute are told that there is an active arrest warrant on the driver. Two town police units arrive on the scene and a town officer arrested the vehicle occupant.

12:55 p.m. Police respond to a report of a woodchuck stuck in a chain link fence on Academy Avenue and free the animal.

1:30 p.m. Police issue two summonses to vehicles parked without a permit at the riverfront.

4:10 p.m. Police receive a credit card that was found on Hudson Street near the police station.

8:34 p.m. Police respond to a mental health call in which a woman was angry at her boyfriend and his family and threatened suicide. Police transport the woman to Cornwall hospital for treatment.
