General News: 3 Charged with Criminal Mischief
December 17, 2009
Three men are facing charges of criminal mischief after an early morning chase on Thursday that ended in a field in New Windsor.
New Windsor police say that Jesse Johnson, 19, of Washingtonville, Joseph Gabel, 21, of Salisbury Mills, and Michael Ulvila, 21, of Salisbury Mills, were spotted around 3 am by a witness who saw them damaging mailboxes on Lake Road, near Beaver Dam Lake.
Police report that the suspects attempted to elude the witness, who chased them onto a farm on Lake Road where they got stuck in a field. Police apprehended the trio at the farm and charged them with misdemeanor counts of criminal mischief in the 4th degree and with trespassing, a violation. Ulvila also was charged with possession of an open alcoholic beverage container, a violation.
Police lieutenant Michael Farbent says that his department has been investigating a series of incidents in the area in which mailboxes were damaged, cars drove on lawns, eggs were thrown at houses and bottles were thrown on driveways. He added that he expects additional criminal mischief charges against the three men.

I thought that in this country, you were supposed to be innocent until proven guilty. This doesn't seem to be the case anymore. These three boys were at the wrong place at the wrong time, and if there was a car chasing you flashing you like crazy in the middle of the night, you too would try to get away. Who knows what psychopath is out at night? This is completely unfair to disgrace all three of their names when absolutely none of the above crimes were actually committed by these three boys.
