Monday, June 4
11:34 a.m. Police investigate a report that a student at Cornwall middle school received an explicit message on a cell phone that included heavy breathing, which intimidated the youth.
5:04 p.m. Police investigate a report of a missing teenage girl.
5:47 p.m. Police issue a summons to Joseph Palaggi, of Highland Mills, for a driving 48mph in a 30mph zone.
8:00 p.m. Police respond to a report of a tree blocking the Pleasant Hill Road and remove the tree to the side.
10:07 p.m. Police issue two summonses to Aldo Cacchioli, 35, of Highland Mills, for a driving 86 mph in a 55 mph zone on Route 321 and for not producing proof of insurance.
10:40 p.m. Police issue two summonses to Arnold Rogombie, 25, of Newburgh, for vehicle and traffic violations.
Tuesday, June 5
8:30 a.m. Police respond to a domestic issue between a man and woman outside Cornwall hospital.
12:31 p.m. Police arrest John Burger, 47, of Cornwall, for trespassing at Quaker Plaza. (see full story here)
2:32 p.m. Police investigate a larceny of a pair of antique spectacles at Sands-Ring homestead.
4:00 p.m. Police investigate a larceny of jewelry from a private residence.
6:34 p.m. Police issue two summonses to Eric Ferguson, 20, of Newburgh, for driving 74 mph in a 45 mph zone and for not producing proof of insurance.
10:58 p.m. Police advise a group of skateboarders at the middle school to move along.
Wednesday, June 6
12:12 p.m. Police responding to a call of an illegally parked vehicle drive police car into a culvert, causing minor damage.
Afternoon Police arrest a 16-year-old Cornwall High School student for possession of a weapon on school grounds. The New Windsor teen was observed pointing a BB gun toward the ground outside his vehicle on school property but he did not display the BB gun towards anyone or threaten anyone with it. The teen was released to his mother.
4:38 p.m. Police respond to a report of a dispute between a teenage couple.
5:14 p.m. Police respond to a report of a hit-and-run accident on Main Street in which a large crane truck was seen when it knocked the driver-side mirror off a parked car.
8:04 p.m. Police issue a summons to a driver who parked in the fire lane in front of Leo’s restaurant on Quaker Avenue.
9:41 p.m. Police investigate a report of fireworks on Angola Road and speak to a group who admitted they had shot off fireworks and agreed to refrain from similar activity in the future.
Thursday, June 7
6:01 a.m. Police issue a summons to Steven Schmmidt, 40, of Fort Montgomery, for a vehicle and traffic violation.
8:00 a.m. Police respond to a vehicle vs. deer motor vehicle accident.
12:25 p.m. Police issue a summons to Lise Napolitano, 43, of Cornwall, for a vehicle and traffic violation.
1:26 p.m. Police respond to Cornwall high school for a fire alarm and are advised that someone had set off a smoke canister in the stairwell, which set off the alarm. After an investigation, police arrest 17-year-old student and charge him with two felonies, false report of a fire and criminal mischief, and a misdemeanor, reckless endangerment. 5:42 p.m. Police investigate a trespassing complaint from a business at Cornwall Plaza where a 21-year-old man had applied for a position causing the complainant to feel very uncomfortable with her conversation with the man. The applicant returned the next day with a dress and a pair of shoes as a gift for the complainant. The suspect told police he bought the gifts because he liked her. He is advised to refrain from patronizing that particular establishment.
7:35 p.m. Police respond to a motor vehicle accident in Rose Hill Park.
8:10 p.m. Police respond to a harassment complaint and mediate a dispute between a father and his 28-year-old son about raking the lawn.
10:31 p.m. Police respond to an accident on Orrs Mill Road in which a driver swerved to avoid a deer and his vehicle rolled over.
Friday, June 8, 2007
12:08 a.m. Police respond to a deer vs. motor vehicle accident on Route 9W.
2:05 a.m. Police investigate a disturbance at the Shamrock Tavern that began when the bartender called police to say that a male teenager had thrown two eggs into the tavern. Police stop a vehicle that matched the description of the car the teen had driven away in and they arrest a 15-year-old male for possession of marijuana. Another teen in the car was identified as the person who threw the eggs but the tavern did not press charges.
8:49 a.m. Police respond to a motor vehicle accident on Orrs Mill Road and Route 32.
10:37 a.m. Police assist a mental health patient at Cornwall hospital.
10:12 p.m. Police observe a group of juveniles on Willow Avenue and advise them to move along.
Saturday, June 9
12:47 a.m. Police respond to a girlfriend/boyfriend dispute.
1:56 p.m. Police respond to a report of a missing teenage girl who later returns.
2:30 p.m. Police close a portion of Route 218 while Cornwall Fire Department assists to stranded hikers on Storm King Mountain.
3:22 p.m. Police respond to Dunkin Donuts for a group of skateboarders in the way of traffic. They are advised to leave the area.
4:03 p.m. Police respond to a motor vehicle accident on Quaker Avenue.
5:18 p.m. Police respond to a report of a Maplehurst Inn resident trespassing on Willow Avenue elementary school property.
10:55 p.m. Police respond to a deer vs. motor vehicle accident on Route 9W.
Sunday, June 10
12:22 a.m. Police respond to a report of noisy patrons at the Shamrock Tavern. Subjects are advised.
1:34 a.m. Police issue a summons to Daniel Cruz-Ortiz, 29, of Goshen, for a vehicle and traffic violation.
2:56 a.m. Police escort two intoxicated subjects back to their homes.
11:34 a.m. Police respond to a motor vehicle accident on Route 94.
1:02 p.m. Police investigate a reported larceny of a dress from the Madison Avenue store on Main Street.
5:20 p.m. Police respond to a motor vehicle accident on Windy Hill Road.
