Voters in Cornwall, Blooming Grove and Woodbury elected Kevin Hines, a Republican from Cornwall, to fill the seat of retiring Orange County legislator Alan Seidman in Tuesday's election.
With 94 percent of the voted counted, Hines had 55.5 percent while his chief opponent, Democrat Richard Randazzo, had 38.2. Robert Fromaget, a candidate of the Working Families Party, garnered 6.2 percent. Hines, who won in his first bid for public office, will represent the 12th District in the county legislature.
In the 15th District, incumbent Democratic legislator Chris Eachus held a slim lead over Republican K. James Dittenberger, a Republican. With 94 percent of the votes counted, Eachus had 1,081 votes to Dittbrenner's 1,027.
On a county level, Orange County Executive Ed Diana won a third term in office by defeating his Democratic challenger Pat O?Dwyer by a margin of 62 to 38 percent.
In the town of Cornwall, supervisor Kevin Quigley, councilmembers Mary Beth Greene Krafft and Al Mazzocca and town clerk Elaine Tilford Schneer, all of whom ran unopposed --- were re-elected to new terms.
