General News: Girls Varsity Soccer Team Advances

The Cornwall girl’s varsity soccer team won the Section 9 Class A championship after a hard-fought come-from-behind victory against Wallkill on Tuesday night in Middletown.
The team fought back from a 0-2 deficit at half time to tie the game 2-2 by the end of regular play. In overtime, the Lady Dragons scored, clinching the game with a final score of 3-2.
Goals were scored by Nina Gioia, Kim Sharo and Christina Hogan.
The team moves on to the state tournament, where it faces the Section 1 champion on November 10.
