To the Editor:
The recent lawsuit by retired Justice Suttlehan for benefits awarded and then rescinded raises serious issues about the New Windsor town government. Consider the following:
1. The FREE health benefits awarded to employees and their spouses with no oversight or review by the taxpayers was a gross error.
2. As a result of citizen outcry, the town supervisor ammended the free health program.
3. It has become apparent the town government made an undisclosed agreement with the judge which is in dispute. Now, the town tax dollars will potentially be used to compensate the judge for an inappropriate secretive agreement.
The current government in the town of New Windsor follows its own rules with no oversight. Single party rule in the town means no other political party is there to require explanations on decisions. Our town board needs a balanced membership which reflects the emerging community- not the same old cronies
We have very good alternate candidates. They are not related to anyone in office. They will offer sound judgment and provide balance for decision making. I recommend New Windsor citizens change the membership on the Town Council and elect Diane Newlander and Randy Aimone for Town Council.
