►Something Rotten on Main Street
Councilman Randy Clark reports that it was stinking on Main Street earlier this week. Clark, whose financial services business sits on the corner of Main and Bridge Street, said that a sewer line was blocked, apparently by a grease buildup. He told fellow council members that he can’t remember a worse smell. “It wan’t much fun on Main Street today,” Clark said. “You couldn’t even be in any of the businesses on my side of the street.”
►The Last Dirt Road in Cornwall?
Well, not quite, but Old Route 32 is the last town-maintained dirt road in town and crews from the highway department are busy making sure that it becomes a distant memory. The crews expect to have the road paved later this month.
While Old Route 32 may be the last dirt road the town is responsible for, it is not the last one in town. Several privately maintained roads, including those between Route 32 and the Thruway north of Orrs Mills Road, are still covered in dirt. Supervisor Kevin Quigley said the town has no control over the maintenance of those roadways.
►Planning Board Vacancy
Planning board member Helen Bunt is stepping down from the town of Cornwall planning board. She handed in her resignation letter to the town council, citing personal reasons. Bunt, who served as town supervisor from 2000 through 2001, was appointed to the seat in May, 2008. She says she will remain on the board until a replacement is found.

If you think it smells on Main Street, let's talk about the smells from the overflow man hole covers at Idlewood. The Town has never addressed the problem there, where there are overflow problems from outflow down by the sewer plant. Yes, not THE sewer plant but the run off across the street from the plant. Wake up admin. You are not listening, or seeing the problems in the Town and the Village, and I am getting perturbed that no one is paying attention to the problems that have been noted by persons who are watching the problems mounting. We need to start being active and proactive, and as someone watching the changes in this Town, there is not enough attention being paid to the problems that already exist. I am at at a loss, and do not understand as Stewards of this Town and Village, why we are not taking the innitiative to be a better community.Shame on you for not listenning to problems, when we have handed you information that is pertinent to our quality of life.
