Town of Cornwall Police Blotter

Monday, October 5
3:56 p.m. Police respond to a motor vehicle accident on Main Street.

6:04 p.m. Police arrest Michael Westervelt, 36, of Middletown on an outstanding bench warrant.

11:05 p.m. Police respond to a report of a large black bear eating garbage in the backyard of a residence on Beakes Road. The bear is gone on arrival.


Tuesday, October 6
9:27 a.m. Police respond to a report of a window broken overnight at the Cadet Motel on Route 9W.

1:39 p.m. Police arrest three individuals – Lucas Wilker, 25, of Colorado, Levi West, 20, of Pennsylvania, and James Brown, 2, of Colorado, for soliciting without a license after they were observed selling magazines door-to-door on Willow Avenue.

6:47 p.m. Police respond to a complaint of a very loud band playing on Quaker Avenue and advise resident to shut the window.

7:36 p.m. Police respond to a deer vs. motor vehicle accident on Orrs Mills Road.

9:04 p.m. Police arrest 20-year-old Gregory Norton, of Cornwall, for aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle after stopping him for an equipment violation.


Wednesday, October 7
9:15 a.m. Police investigate a reported mail order fraud.

2:52 p.m. Police arrest John Conte, 33, of Cornwall, on a bench warrant from Blooming Grove.

3:11 p.m. Police issue multiple tickets to the driver of a vehicle that had no plates. After police stopped the vehicle on Route 94, the driver jumped out of the vehicle and fled on foot. Driver ticketed for operating an uninsured vehicle, for an expired inspection and for an unregistered vehicle.

7:05 p.m. Police respond to a motor vehicle accident on Route 32.


Thursday, October 8
3:09 p.m. Police arrest 22-year-old Joshua Rodriguez of New Windsor for aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle after he is stopped for an equipment violation on Route 9W.


Friday, October 9
8:23 a.m. Police respond to a deer vs. motor vehicle accident on Route 9W and dispatch the injured animal.

1:07 p.m. Police respond to a motor vehicle accident on Route 32.

2:04 p.m. Police respond to a deer vs. motor vehicle accident on Route 9W.

3:02 p.m. Police respond to a two-car motor vehicle accident on Quaker Avenue and Route 9W.


Saturday, October 10
9:17 a.m. Police investigate a report of graffiti on the Little League cabin.


Sunday, October 11
10:54 a.m. Police issue a driver a ticket for driving 71 mph in a 45 mph zone on Route 9W and a ticket for a broken rear tail light.

6:57 p.m. Police respond to a minor motor vehicle accident on Route 9W.

7:26 p.m. Police observe some criminal mischief in the bathrooms at the Little League fields.

And what is with all the graffiti around town lately?

It seems every park, street sign and container is covered in it. And it's all the same three or four scribblings. Anyone else notice that?
