Police Blotter: May 9-12, 2007

Village Police Department

Thursday, May 10
5:31 p.m. Police respond to an accident involving a motorcycle and a car on Hudson Street.

7:24 p.m. Police issue a summons to Dean Purdy, 41, of Monroe, for a vehicle and traffic violation.

8:00 p.m. Police issue a summons to William Gross, 22, of Newburgh, for a vehicle and traffic violation.

8:20 p.m. Police issue a parking summons to vehicle on Hudson Street.

Friday, May 11
10:50 a.m. Police assist town and COVAC with a fifth grader who passed out behind the middle school.

4:52 p.m. Police respond to a report of marijuana that was found in the parking lot of the Cumberland Farms store. Amount found was estimated at three grams.

6:54 p.m. Police investigate a report of a vehicle that was hit by a train at the north end of Donahue Memorial Park resulting in no injuries. The driver of the van was not in the vehicle when it was hit but her 8-year-old son was. Police also investigated a report of numerous vehicles parked illegally and people on the tracks.

9:53 p.m. Police arrest four male teenagers outside the Cornwall-on-Hudson elementary school and charge two of them with possession of 10 grams of marijuana and two of them with possession of alcoholic beverages. The arrests occurred after a parent flagged down an officer in front of the school and said that he had just taken his child away from a group of juveniles and that his child smelled of alcohol. Further investigation led to the arrests.

11:48 p.m. Police respond to a report of flames on the riverfront near Wood Avenue and find four people fishing. Police and fire department notify CSX to halt train activity in the area until all is cleared.

Saturday, May 12
10:14 a.m. Police issue a summons to John Bidosky, 54, of Mountainville, for a vehicle and traffic violation.

11:40 a.m. Police issue a summons for parking in an illegal manner of Reservoir Road.

2:42 p.m. Police respond to a reported larceny at the DB Mart in which a suspect drove off without paying for $20 of gas.
