Monday, April 23
9:49 a.m. Police issue a summons to Willis Carroll, 40, of Monroe for speeding on Route 9W.
11:00 a.m. Police arrest Damarie Orfila, 27, of Newburgh, when she came into police headquarters about her lost license plates and police find an active warrant against her issued by the Newburgh police.
2:00 p.m. Police investigate a report of a tree limb that struck a vehicle on Curie Road, causing severe damage to the car. The large dead tree limb was about 15 inches round.
4:15 p.m. Police investigate a report of a 14-year-old boy who was assaulted at the Cornwall Middle School on April 19 in the athletic field. The boy said another 14-year-old cursed at him and pushed him onto the ground so that his glasses fell off his face. His assailant then broke his glasses. The male victim was able to get up and defend himself at which time another male suspect began punching the victim’s back. The victim’s wrist was broken. A teacher broke the fight up and the suspects were disciplined by the school.
4:34 p.m. Polcie respond to a report of a brush fire on Route 218 and shut down the road until the fire is over.
6:03 p.m. Police respond to a report of shots fired near Hampton Place/Frost Lane and complainant says it has been an ongoing problem with hunters. No subjects located.
7:13 p.m. Police respond to a report of two suspicious males who reportedly pointed a gun towards the ground of Cornwall hospital. Police locate the two males, who say that they were looking at a black colored BB gun they said they had found but denied ever having pointed it at the hospital or persons in the vicinity. The subjects are strongly advised as to possible repercussions from their actions.
8:13 p.m. Police respond to a domestic dispute between a man and woman that eventually led to the 20-year-old man’s arrest five days later for harassment and reckless endangerment.
10:30 p.m. Police respond to a report of a missing girl who later returns hom.
11:30 p.m. Police respond to a report of disorderly subjects in the bushes yelling “faggots” at passersby. Police find three males and one female, ages 17 to 19, in possession of alcohol and turn them over to village police.
Tuesday, April 24
7:54 a.m. Police respond to a burglary alarm at the public library and find the front door open and unlocked. Office checked the buildings and rows of the library, all clear. When a library employee showed up for work she did not want to stay in the library alone so she went outside to wait for another employee.
7:54 a.m. Police find a grey duffle bag near the Willow Avenue overpass and located the owner who says he was walking with the bag last evening and it was too heavy so he put it down and walked home.
11:47 a.m. Police issue citations to two vehicles parked in a fire lane at 2 Mill Street.
9:11 p.m. Police respond to a report of two disorderly subjects panhandling at Clinton and Hazen Streets and they are located and warned.
10:00 p.m. Police issue a summons to John Zani, 20, of Highland, for a vehicle and traffic violation.
Wednesday, April 25
2:46 p.m. Police assist Central Hudson in checking for a gas leak in a home where the homeowner was not home. Leak is found and valve shut off.
7:02 p.m. Police take a report of a car vs deer motor vehicle accident on Otterkill Road.
Thursday, April 26
2:46 p.m. Police take a report of an accident between vehicles backing out of parking spaces at the high school that caused damages.
6:08 p.m. Police charge Antonio Heath, 20, of Cornwall, with endangering the welfare of a child and second-degree harassment.
Friday, April 27
8:32 p.m. Police respond to a report from the Cadet Motel that an unidentified male was found sleeping in a motel room that had not been rented out. The male fled and the motel operator said a window in the bathroom had been opened. Two days later, Stephen Bennett, of Cornwall, was arrested and charged with second-degree burglary for illegal entry and theft of services.
3:03 p.m. Police respond to a reported dispute between two drivers. One says that one of the youths in the other car threw an object out of their car and struck his vehicle. Other subjects say they accidently threw a penny out the window. Subjects were advised.
4:31 p.m. Police respond to a fire on Shadowood Lane and shut down a portion of Route 94. Investigation is handed over to state police.
7 p.m. Police arrest a 37-year-old female hospital patient who struck and spat at employees. Police charge her with attempted assault in the third degree and second- degree harassment.
6:35 p.m. Police respond to a domestic dispute and arrest a 29-year-old male for possession of a controlled substance, oxycontin, and harassment.
7:20 p.m. Police respond to a report of a juvenile who had scratched a car after a verbal dispute with the car’s driver. The juvenile is located and restitution is arranged.
8:08 p.m. Police respond to a report of a missing 12-year-old girl who later returns home.
Saturday, April 28
8:25 p.m. Police respond to a report of bear running through the back yards of Lyndon Lane. Police observe the bear going through garbage at a residence and chase the bear out of the neighborhood.
