Police Blotter: April 2-8, 2007

Monday, April 2
6:49 a.m.  Police issue a summons to Flavio Hilario, 35, for a vehicle and traffic violation.

9:06 a.m.  Police take a report of a vehicular accident on Pleasant Hill Road.

10:58 a.m.  Police assist security at Cornwall hospital with a suicidal patient.

5:16 p.m.  Police investigate a report of a reckless vehicle on Route 32 and find a driver who passed a vehicle legally and a garbage bag opened and was re-secured.  Operator returned to pick up the debris.

9:05 p.m.  Police investigate a reported domestic dispute involving a father and his daughter regarding her use of his credit cards.

Tuesday, April 3
2:38 p.m.  Police respond to a report of skateboarders at Town Hall.  Skateboarders say that they did not see any signs that prohibited this type of activity but they complied.

5:55 p.m.  A woman comes to police headquarters to report that her daughter was receiving instant messages that included obscenities.  The officer advises the woman to block messages and not to respond to the taunting.

8:32 p.m.  Police shut down Willow and Mill Street in response to a report of a gas odor per Central Hudson.

9:45 p.m.  Police respond to a report of two male youths wearing all black who knocked on a resident’s door and then fled.  No suspects found.

Wednesday, April 4
6:50 a.m.  Police respond to a report of vandalized stop signs at Shore and Ash Drives and find two signs pulled from the ground.

12:04 p.m.  Police respond to an accident on Route 9W.

4:23 p.m.  Police investigate a complaint that a 15-year-old male wearing a blue hooded sweatshirt and white hat knocked on the door of a neighbor who was on vacation.  When confronted, the suspect told the complainant that he was looking for his dog.  Nothing looks disturbed at the premises.

5:10 p.m.  A man comes to police headquarters to report damage done to six full-size rose plants.  Complainant says that someone sprayed plant killer on three bushes in his back yard last week and then sprayed three bushes in the front the previous night.  Complainant reports that the plants have started to die.  He believes that one of his neighbors may be responsible due to the control he exercises over the first 300 feet of his front lawn. However, he does not know which neighbor might do so.

6:15 p.m.  Police arrest Bujar Krasniqi, 31, of Cornwall-on-Hudson, on a bench warrant issued in New Windsor for aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle.

7:21 p.m.  Police issue a summons to Gregory Cooper, 39, of Monroe, for a vehicle and traffic violation.

Thursday, April 5
12:05 a.m.  Police respond to a report of a domestic dispute and find an 18-year-old female outside with what appeared to be black-and-blue eyes, swollen nose and lips, with dried blood on her pants.  Initially she reported that her father had struck her but then police learn that she told her parents she had been assaulted by gang members in the city of Newburgh. Further investigation showed that she may have been with a male with a history of domestic violence against whom she has an order of protection.

3:20 a.m.  Police observe a vehicle parked on Main Street with numerous eggs thrown on it.

9:47 a.m.  Police respond to a report of a domestic dispute between a couple arguing about employment in which the female pushed the male, causing a laceration to his finger. Both subjects agree to be civil to each other.

6:00 p.m.  Police issue a summons to Ian Zavardino, 22, of Cornwall, for a vehicle and traffic violation.

7:56 p.m.  Police respond to a car vs. deer accident on Route 9W.

9:00 p.m.   Police issue a summons to Michael Masterson, 40, of New Windsor, for a vehicle and traffic violation.

10:49 p.m.  Police issue two summonses to Jonathan Terry, 19, of Plattekill for vehicle and traffic violations.

Friday, April 6
1:38 a.m. Police issue two summonses to Antonio Garcia, 49, of Newburgh for driving without a license and for failure to keep right.

7:26 a.m.  Police take a report of a motor vehicle accident with damages.  The one-car accident apparently resulted from ice.

7:33 a.m.  Police respond to a report of a disorderly white male walking on Shore Drive towards Route 94 yelling obscenities and carrying a baseball bat.  The male is upset about a prior incident and the officers are able to get him to voluntarily put down the bat and screwdriver that he was carrying. Subject is transported to Cornwall hospital for treatment.

5:20 p.m.  Police issue a summons to Azabela Kowalik, 22, of Cornwall-on-Hudson, for a vehicle and traffic violation.

7:21 p.m.  Police respond to a 911 hang-up and hear a man and woman having a loud discussion.  The female says that she and her boyfriend have been arguing over a car she owns and her efforts to get a job.  Police talk to both subjects to resolve issues.

8:17 p.m.  Police issue a summons to James Scherer, 46, of Vails Gate, for a vehicle and traffic violation.

9:06 p.m.  Police issue a summons to Jason Lamont, 32, of Cornwall, for a vehicle and traffic violation.

Saturday, April 7
1:59 a.m.  Police issue a summons to Steven Travell, 22, for a vehicle and traffic violation.

2:12 a.m.  Police stop a vehicle for traveling 80 mph in a 55 mph zone and learn that the driver’s wife who was seated next to him was in labor.  Police follow the vehicle to St. Luke’s Cornwall hospital and assist getting the woman in labor into the E.R.

10:13 a.m.  Police issue a summons to Therese Cavalari, 21, of Washingtonville, for driving an uninspected motor vehicle.

10:53 a.m.  Police respond to a report of a vehicle blocking a driveway on Main Street and after checking surrounding stores and apartments for the driver, issue a summons for illegal parking and have the vehicle towed.

3:25 p.m.  Police respond to a disturbance call and speak with the father of a child who threw a rock that broke a window on an unidentified resident’s property.  The father agrees to pay for the repairs.

4:03 p.m.  Police respond to a reported harassment of an employee attempting to re-claim a rental couch for non-payment.

5:47 p.m.  Complainant files a harassment report at police headquarters regarding a former contractor whom he has not paid because of alleged poor quality of the job.

8 p.m.  Police take a report of petit larceny at the Cornwall Wine and Liquor Store in which a bottle of Jose Cueva was allegedly taken by a white male and his female companion.

8:27 p.m.  Police respond to a car vs. deer accident on Route 32.

9:21 p.m.  Police respond to a motor vehicle accident involving a State Park police vehicle that swerved to avoid a deer on Route 9W, crossed the median, and hit a guardrail on the opposite side of the highway.

Sunday, April 8
12:00 midnight  Police respond to a report of a domestic dispute between a married couple who were arguing about the tv volume.

4:52 p.m.  Police respond to the Cornwall hospital emergency room to assist with a disorderly, intoxicated patient in the E.R.

11:18 p.m.  Police respond to a report of a loud party in an apartment building and tell residents to turn down the music.
