General News: Police Charge Sex Offender with Misdemeanor
September 07, 2009
Cornwall police arrested a known sex offender on Sunday, charging him with forcible touching, a class A misdemeanor.
Mark Iannolo, a registered sex offender living on Route 9W in Cornwall, allegedly touched a 21-year-old woman in a sexually gratifying manner as he gave her a backrub. Police chief Todd Hazard said that Iannolo hired the woman to clean his home after seeing her ad on Craigslist.
Iannolo was convicted of sodomy in 1991 in a case involving a 23-year-old woman in the town of Newburgh. Last year, Cornwall police charged him with failing to report a change of address. He was living at 12 Union Street at the time.
Chief Hazard said Iannolo was arraigned and sent to the Orange County Jail in lieu of $4,000 cash bail
