When the weather turns cooler this fall, food lovers can turn to a new restaurant on Main Street whose owner promises to deliver plenty of tasty comfort food.
Derric Vetter has been cooking since he was a teenager and now, at age 26, he’s opening his own place in Cornwall at the site of the former Bubba’s Bagels.
Vetter, who opened the popular Storm King Scoops ice cream stand in the village last summer, says he ready to expand. His new place will be called Storm King Eatery.
The eatery will serve lunch and dinner, with seating for 13 people and a big emphasis on take-out. Vetter says he will serve brunch on Sundays but will otherwise be closed in the mornings.
“I’m going to serve all-American comfort food,” Vetter said, “We’ll keep the food affordable with items like buttermilk fried chicken and pulled pork.” He intends to use local meats and produce when its available.
Vetter says he has gotten plenty of experience working in restaurants throughout the region, from Nicky’s at Storm King Theater to the Highlands Country Club in Garrison. A 2002 graduate of Cornwall high school, he also studied at the Institute of Culinary Education in Manhattan.
Storm King Eatery is scheduled to open its doors on October 1st.
Comments:
Good luck. Hopefully this will help to revitalize Main Street. He should try to open sooner (in time for the Sidewalk Fair in September).
