Monday, August 17
Police respond to a motor vehicle accident on Route 9W at Angola Road in which the driver drove off the road and into the woods. The driver is transported to Cornwall hospital.
3:46 p.m. Police respond to a report of a small car off the road on Angola Road and Covac transports the driver to Cornwall hospital.
8:04 p.m. Police give a courtesy transport to an intoxicated person found laying on the grass next to the bank on Chestnut Street.
9:03 p.m. Police give a courtesy transport to an intoxicated female on Quaker Avenue.
Tuesday, August 18
12:21 a.m. Police respond to a minor motor vehicle accident in the parking lot of Key Foods.
10:47 a.m. Police respond to a boyfriend-girlfriend domestic dispute.
12:12 p.m. Police arrest a 20-year-old female for disorderly conduct after she was observed striking an ex-boyfriend at his home and refused two orders to vacate his premises.
7:23 p.m. Police issue a ticket to a driver for not having a valid driver’s license on Route 32.
Wednesday, August 19
1:01 p.m. Police arrest 49-year-old Nelson Cooper of Lake Katrine for soliciting without a proper license after he was reported to be going door-to-door on Ferguson Street selling driveway sealant.
3:36 p.m. Police arrest 43-year-old Norman Wotton of Newburgh for driving with a suspended registration and with a suspended vehicle registration after he was involved in a one-car motor vehicle accident on Academy Avenue.
6:21 p.m. Police respond to a motor vehicle accident with injuries on Highland Avenue and Algernon that occurred when one vehicle failed to yield and hit a second vehicle with three passengers. Three people are transported to Cornwall hospital and the driver of the second vehicle is transported by helicopter to Westchester Medical Center. Police later arrest Frank Jannotti, Jr. of Campbell Hall and charge him with aggravated unlicensed operation of a vehicle and with failure to yield.
Thursday, August 20
9:03 a.m. Police investigate a report of a cement mixer damaged at a construction site at Lee Road school. Damage found to be caused by an employee and the company handles the case internally.
6:15 p.m. Police respond to a report of an erratic driver and, after finding a vehicle matching the description, charge 39-year-old Gaetano Pietrobuono of Huntington Station with aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle.
Friday, August 21
1:53 a.m. Police respond to a deer vs. motor vehicle accident on Route 32 but the deer is gone on arrival.
2:15 a.m. Police issue a ticket to a driver on Route 32 for traveling 60 mph in a 40 mph zone.
8:09 a.m. Police observe a motorcycle pass two separate motor vehicles in the westbound lane of Route 94 in an area that a double yellow/no passing zone and issue its driver a ticket for unsafe passing.
10:44 a.m. Police investigate a report of graffiti on a new garbage can out front of the Dunkin’ Donuts in Cornwall Plaza.
1:03 p.m. Police come on the scene of a minor two-car motor vehicle accident on Quaker Avenue.
3:51-5:20 p.m. Police respond to six reports of hazardous conditions created by trees and wires down in areas around town.
6:13 p.m. Police take a report of a hubcap missing from the vehicle of a resident of Highland Avenue.
8:32-51 p.m. Police respond to two calls of wires down on the roadway on Orrs Mills Road.
9:06 p.m. Police issue a ticket a ticket to a driver on Route 32 for driving 75 mph in a 55 mph zone and a ticket for an expired registration.
10:30 p.m. Police respond to a motor vehicle accident that occurred in the parking lot of Cumberland Farms on Route 94.
Saturday, August 22
2:08 a.m. Police respond to a report of two juvenile males seen walking through a backyard on Elm and Poplar Streets with flashlights. Police are unable to locate them. The witness later called to report that the gas cap on his vehicle was missing and he thought he smelled something that may have been put in his gas tank.
8:45 a.m. Police investigate a report of the #7 greens at the Storm King Golf Course being intentionally damaged in 30 separate sections by what appeared to be a rake.
9:18 a.m. Police assist village police with a motor vehicle accident on Willis Avenue.
9:32-:51 a.m. Police respond to three reports of hazardous roadway conditions created by fallen tree branches and wires.
10:45 a.m. Police dispatch an injured deer on Route 9W.
1:35 p.m. Police dispatch an injured deer on Route 9W near Willow Avenue.
2:42 p.m. Police charge an 18-year-old female from Cornwall with forgery in the third degree and petty larceny after her mother discovered a forged check for $800 had been cashed.
8:35 p.m. Police issue one driver tickets for driving 50 mph in a 30 mph zone on Quaker Avenue, failure to stop for a red light and failure to use a directional signal.
Sunday, August 23
10:33 a.m. Police respond to assist a subject with a mental health problem.
