Town of Cornwall Police Blotter

Sunday, July 12
11:55 a.m.  Police issue tickets to several motorcycles on Route 9W for speeding, after they were clocked at 100 mph in a 55 mph zone.

3:33 p.m.  Police issue a ticket to a driver on Orrs Mills Road for driving 55 mph in a 45 m mph zone.

4:19 p.m.  Police dispatch an injured fawn found on the side of Mineral Springs Road.

4:51 p.m.  Police respond to a report of a kitten stuck in a drainpipe on Continental Road, crying to get out. Animal is rescued and transported to Flannery Animal Hospital.

7:34 p.m.  Police take two reports from opposing sides in a road rage incident and advise all parties to avoid aggressive behavior.


Monday, July 13
9:45 a.m.  Police investigate a report of graffiti sprayed on the rear door of the post office on Quaker Avenue.

4:17 p.m.  Police advise juveniles not to hang out at town hall after receiving a complaint about their behavior.

8:25 p.m.  Police respond to a report of a fight in progress behind Willow Avenue School and speak to two females who say two other females in a car started a verbal argument about comments made by the first females on Facebook about the other females.  A physical fight then erupted between two of the females, who received scratches but did not want to file charges.  Parents of the females were notified.


Tuesday, July 14
12:08 a.m.  Police canvas the area of Route 94 for a speeding white Suzuki with disorderly juveniles who allegedly threw something that damaged another vehicle. No results.

5:29 a.m.  Police retrieve an injured owl from the roadside on Route 94.  The bird, with a visibly broken wing, was handed over to the Newburgh Vet Hospital, where the bird will be rehabilitated.

6:41 a.m.  Police issue a ticket to a driver on Orrs Mills Road for driving 65 mph in a 45 mph zone.

5:07 p.m.  Police respond to a report of juveniles attempted to break into a vacant building in Cornwall Plaza.  Juveniles are gone on arrival and interior of the building appeared secure.


Wednesday, July 15
7:35 p.m.  Police investigate a report of graffiti writing on the slides in the town playground.


Thursday, July 16
10:16 a.m.  Police issue a ticket to a driver for driving 50 mph in a 30 mph zone on Beakes Road.

11:55 a.m.  Police investigate a report of vehicles taken from a vehicle.


Friday, July 17, 2009
6:31 a.m.  Police respond to a deer vs. motor vehicle accident on Route 32.

8:41 a.m.  Police investigate a report of four laptops stolen overnight from a business on Laurel Avenue.

4:32 p.m.  Police charge a driver of New Windsor, with aggravated unlicensed operation of a vehicle, with driving a vehicle with a suspended registration and with failure to stop at a stop sign on Shore Road and Ash Drive.

5:51 p.m.  Police dispatch a deer with a broken leg on Pleasant Hill Road.

8:04 p.m.  Police charge 18-year-old Anthony Tetro, of Cornwall, with aggravated unlicensed operation of a vehicle on Main Street.
