From the Cornwall Public LIbrary
Next time you visit Cornwall Public Library, check out the new seating area that features four handsome upholstered chairs, presented to the library in loving memory of Sixtus Petraeus by his son and daughter, Gen. David H. Petraeus and Carol Petraeus Morton, and his friends, family and neighbors.
“The Library was a favorite place for us during all the years we lived in Cornwall,” said Mrs. Morton. “ ‘Cap’ Petraeus never hesitated to tell his children and grandchildren that he was a mischievous child and ‘nothing special’ as an adult. However, through hard work, dedication, and an intense interest in the world, he lived a long and remarkable life. We couldn’t think of a better way or place to establish his memorial.”
Patrons are thoroughly enjoying the comfort provided by these four “Petraeus” chairs, sitting in them to read a book, magazine or newspaper while visiting Cornwall Library. “We are so pleased that Carol and David Petraeus chose to honor their father with this beautiful addition to our library,” said Karen LaRocca-Fels, library director. “It’s wonderful to have such a lovely seating area for use by our patrons.”
A marble plaque identifying the Petraeus Memorial has been installed at the library, adjacent to the four new chairs.
Comments:
General H. Petraeus, Cornwall Born and Schooled should be honoured in some way by the town and village. He is a man who has dedictated his life to peace and the protection of America. Maybe we could get 218 through the village dedicated Gen. Petraeus Way. It would be a fitting and Honourable way to Honour this Great Man.
Even all that has been going on in the world Gen. Petrraeus hasn't forgotten his roots. I for one Salute the General.

How fun that Miss Dempsey got to sit in the Petraeus chairs! She was a terrific teacher & Gen. P. always mentions her in interviews with the Cornwall Local.
