Farm fresh food will be available in the center of Cornwall every Friday afternoon thanks to the effort of the Cornwall Community Cooperative, which is working with the town to hold a weekly farm stand.
Co-op project manager told the Cornwall town board that she and other volunteers will bring in fresh produce each Friday to sell under a tent at Bridge and Main Streets. Quinn said the group will offer all in-season vegetables, fruits and plants available from local farmers including Blooming Hill Farm, C. Rowe & Sons of Maybrook, and the Rogowski Farm in Pine Island.
Councilman Randy Clark, whose financial services business is next to the site of the farm stand said he welcomes the move. “Since Main Street is so dead, anything that can bring foot traffic is good,” he commented.
The farm stand will be open from 4 to 8 p.m. each Friday, beginning July 17.
The Co-op Marketplace is expanding its hours as well. Starting next week, it will be open on Thursday from noon to 8 p.m., Friday 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Saturday from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. at its storefront at 208 Hudson Street in Cornwall-on-Hudson.
