General News: Road Maintenance Set for Cornwall
July 07, 2009
More than a dozen roads in Cornwall will receive a new oil and chip surface this month, according to highway superintendent Robert Conley.
Conley says that weather permitting, he intends to begin the chip seal maintenance program the week of July 20 on more than six miles of roads. A plan to re-pave Ridge Road and old Route 32 is pending the town board’s approval of a bond to cover the cost. The board will take up the bond issue at its meeting next Monday, July 13.
The board will also be asked to vote on a proposal to blacktop the surface underneath the pavilion at the town’s new Angola Road Park. Board members discussed proposals to either pour a concrete floor or put down blacktop. Both methods have been approved by Scenic Hudson, the environmental group that has a voice in the park’s development, but the concrete floor would cost four times the cost as an asphalt one and the board favors the least expensive alternative.
Here’s a list of the roadways scheduled for the chip seal maintenance this month:
Reservoir Road Jacqueline Street (portion)
Continental Road Ardmore Street (portion)
Mailler Avenue Palomino Place
Academy Avenue Ext. Sky Drive
Rose Hill Park Mine Hill Road
Old Mill Street Jackson Avenue
(bet. Orrs Mills & Rt. 94)
Howard Street Mountain Brook Road
Shore Road Clara Avenue
Deer Hill Road Otterkill Road (portion)
