General News: Little League All-Star Season Brings Wins

The Cornwall Little League All-Stars 2009 season is in full swing, with local teams winning three of four games on Monday night.
The softball teams were in excellent shape as the Major League All-Star team blanked the team from Montgomery with a 10-0 final. Brittany Malloy pitched a no-hitter with five strike-outs. The team faces a team to be determined on Wednesday at 5:30 p.m. at Wallkill Area.
The Senior All-Star softball team brought out its ace pitcher, Allison Scott, in a game against the town of Newburgh. Scott pitched a three-hitter and Stephanie Staudle had five hits and three RBI to win the game 18 to 5 after five innings. Also getting on board were Alyssa Quartuccio with three singles, Grace Scirbona with three hits, two RBI and two runs. Sam Catalanotta scored two runs and had two singles, a double and two RBI. The team will play again on Thursday at 5:30 p.m. at Tri-Valley.
The Major League All-Star baseball team did well in its first outing on Monday, defeating Pine Bush 11 to 7. Mike White pitched for Cornwall and he also got four hits at bat while Michael Bartolone had four hits. Nick Klumack had two hits. The major team plays on Tuesday at 5:30 p.m. at Montgomery.
The Cornwall Junior All-Star baseball team faced the town of Wallkill and lost 8 to 2 on Monday. The team will play again at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday in Pine Bush.
The Senior All-Star baseball team hits the field on Wednesday at 6:00 p.m. in Chester, when it will face New Windsor.
