Thursday, November 9
4:29 p.m. Police observe a large group of juveniles skateboarding at COH school and advise them they are not permitted to skateboard at the school. All juveniles comply.
6:36 p.m. Police advise occupants of two vehicles that they were trespassing on Shore Road.
6:59 p.m. Police observe a large group (9 males, 1 female) at COH Elementary School steps, with skateboards. Juveniles are advised regarding skateboarding and cleaning up the area upon their departure. No problem.
9:47 p.m. Police observe an occupied vehicle in the area of the riverfront. Operator advises patrol that he was waiting to meet up with a friend. Patrol advises operator that the park is closed at dusk and driver leaves the area.
10:50 p.m. Patrol responds to a report of criminal mischief to vehicles in the area of Payson and Lafayette. Caller advised that several vehicles were sprayed with shaving cream. Patrol locates several vehicles that had shaving cream and notified the owners. The reporting person did not observe any suspects. Patrol checks the area and is unable to locate any suspects.
Police also report shaving cream on a car at Lafayette and Boulevard. Police repeat patrol of the area and provide stationary observation of the areas.
Friday, November 10
1:04 a.m. Police assist dog that appears to have been hit by a car on Hudson Street. Dog is recovered by owner.
6:41 a.m. Police respond to a call of a deer that needs to be dispatched in the village.
7:37 a.m. Police respond to a caller concerned about a skunk looking ill that is under the shed. The homeowner is advised to call the police when the skunk comes back out.
8:30 a.m. Police assist the town police in call of a stabbing on Main Street that involved a man who was bleeding from a slice across his right wrist. Man claims it was accidental and the Cornwall police accept the explanation.
2:33 p.m. Police receive a report of a dog tangled in its leash and contact the owner.
2:43 p.m. Police move juveniles off the elementary school property after making them read the No Trespassing sign first.
3:16 p.m. Police receive a report of a dog tangled in its leash at the same property as earlier.
4:26 p.m. Police respond to a residence in the village where a girl had accidentally kicked a ball into her neighbor’s yard. The officer supervised while the girl retrieved her ball. No problem.
5:34 Police respond to a report of people destroying the bandstand and find subjects that stated they were wrestling. No problems.
5:46 p.m. Police respond to a report of someone on a ladder in the street at dark, possibly a cable worker. Officer finds the person with his ladder stretched into the roadway who says he is shutting down the service of someone who did not pay his bill. Police stay with headlights on the ladder until the job is done.
6:40 p.m. Police move along juveniles in front of the elementary school.
6:43 p.m. A woman filed a report of a reckless vehicle that ran over her son’s skateboarding ramp between 3 and 4 p.m. that day. The woman said her son told her that he had his ramp in the street and was using it when a silver Honda Element left its lane and went into the opposite lane and ran over the ramp, which was scratched.
8:41 p.m. Police move along a group of juveniles at the elementary school.
Saturday, November 11
11:00 a.m. Police assist town police with a traffic detail while town officer attempted to locate a possible intoxicated female.
12:14 p.m. Police respond to the Department of Public Works for a person who could not get out. Officer instructs the person to drive up to the gate and as he did this, the gate opened.
3:32 p.m. Police respond to a report of juveniles throwing garbage on the ground at Cornwall-on-Hudson elementary school. The officer finds one subject who admits to throwing garbage on the ground. Subject picks up many pieces of garbage and others are advised to leave the school grounds.
6:06 p.m. Police tell a group of juveniles to move along from the COH elementary school.
6:59 p.m. Police arrest Salvatore Tenteromano, 18, and a 16-year-old male, both students at the New York Military Academy, for unlawful possession of alcohol after finding six bottles of Old English Malt Liquor in their backpacks.
The arrests occurred when police noticed the two walking down Second Street and carrying black backpacks. The officer asks what was in the backpacks. One of the teens, Salvatore Tenteromano, says he just came from church and he has books in it, then asks the officer if he wanted to see inside. After the officer says, “yes,” the teen starts to unzip his backpack and the officer can see beer bottles.
The other teen walks up to the officer without his backpack and the officer tells him to go get it. They both walk over to the pack sitting on the side of the road and the officer sees that it also contains 40-oz. beer bottles.
As the police officer questions both teens, Tenteromano runs away. The officer handcuffs the 16-year-old teen and places him under arrest and inside the patrol car.
A second officer searches the area for Tenteromano while the other teen is brought to police headquarters where he is processed and questioned. Police learn that he and the other teen are from the New York Military Academy.
A N.Y.M.A. officer says they know who the village police are looking for and they find him on N.Y.M.A. grounds, where village police arrest him. Both teens have a court appearance scheduled for November 16.
8:38 p.m. Police respond to Nicky’s restaurant for a noise complaint and speaks to people on the sidewalk outside making too much noise. The people go inside and close the door.
