A group of students at Cornwall Elementary School at Lee Road got a special history lesson this spring thanks to Colette Fulton, the historian of the village of Cornwall-on-Hudson.
Fulton, who has worked with the Young Historians program at the Cornwall Public Library, developed a presentation on the explorations of Henry Hudson that she presented to the students who participated in the Y Scoops after school program at Lee Road. The program coincides with this year’s celebration of the 400th anniversary of Hudson’s voyage up the river that bears his name.
Following her program, Y Scoop leaders worked with the children to develop themes focusing on Hudson’s legacy and they designed a book about the explorer that they presented to Fulton and Dean Satterly, of the Cornwall Historical Society and the public library, earlier this month.
