The Highland Engine Company of the Cornwall Fire Department took part in the Hudson Valley Volunteer Firemen’s Association parade on Saturday, June 20, in Lake George, and took home a first place award for Best Appearing Fire Unit Bloused Uniform 8 to 19 in Line.
More than 100 fire departments took part in the dress parade that marked the end of a three-day convention of the volunteer firefighters organization.
The dress parade took over the main thoroughfares of the resort village of Lake George for more than three hours as the fire companies, bands, and drum and bugle corps marched under grey skies.
The Highland Engine Company, led by Captain Tave Graham, brought along its pump truck, which was driven by Bill Lee.
Despite the overcast weather, the units that marched in the parade sweated in the humidity and by the end of it, people were ready to kick back and relax on the shores of the lake, like these four young women from Tarrytown.
