Volunteers are needed for a special Cornwall tradition – the 60th annual Fourth of July celebration with its pageant, “Courage in Cornwall: Highlights of Our Heritage,” coinciding this year with the Henry Hudson Quadricentennial.
Pageant coordinators Dr. Sally Faith Dorfman-Sirota, Peter Erwin, and Kevin Kirk are recruiting cast and chorus members, musicians, directors, production assistants, and backstage help, promising a great experience for a relatively-brief time commitment: one Saturday morning, one Sunday afternoon, one dress rehearsal, and the show. All volunteers are welcome. Call Dr. Dorfman at 534-2754 or Mr. Erwin at 661-0851, or e-mail [email protected], [email protected], or [email protected].
Pageant rehearsals will be at Cornwall Elementary School (Lee Road) on Saturday, June 27, 9:30 a.m. – 11:30 a.m. and Sunday, June 28, 2 p.m. – 4 p.m., with the dress rehearsal on Friday, July 3, 6:15 p.m. - 7:30 p.m. at the Town of Cornwall Park near the Ring’s Pond gazebo, where the show takes place at 6:15 p.m. on Saturday, July 4, giving pageant volunteers time to participate in the 5 p.m. parade and all other festivities.
“This is a marvelous opportunity to be part of a great Cornwall tradition,” said Dr. Dorfman. “The pageant is an exciting living history lesson that tells Cornwall’s role in the birth of our Nation and explains why we celebrate the Fourth of July.”
