Tuesday, May 19
6:52 a.m.  Police respond to a report of a boat illegally dumped on a dirt trail in Black Rock Forest.

6:58 a.m.  Police respond to a deer vs. motor vehicle accident on Route 9W.

9:54 a.m.  Police charge 35-year-old Michele Scalpi, of Newburgh, with driving with a suspended license after she was stopped for allegedly speeding on Route 94.  Police also charge her with unlawful possession of marijuana.

11:26 a.m.  Police respond to a motor vehicle accident with minor damage at Dragon Drive and Route 94.

12:35 p.m.  Police issue a ticket for driving 64 mph in a 45 mph zone on Route 9W.

4:56 p.m.  Police respond to a motor vehicle accident on Route 218.

7:45 p.m.  Police charge 21-year-old Randahl Schmidt, of Cornwall, with driving with a suspended license.

11:15 p.m.  Police respond to a noise complaint at a Roe Avenue residence and advise owners.

11:52 p.m.  Police issue a traffic ticket to a driver on Route 32.

Wednesday, May 20
12:06 a.m.  Police give a courtesy ride home to a man walking on Route 9W as he returned from work at the Thayer Hotel.

1:12 a.m.  Police respond to a deer vs. motor vehicle accident on Route 9W.

8:41 a.m.  Police investigate a report of a wallet with cash and credit cards, along with a GPS, taken from an unlocked vehicle parked overnight on Main Street.

10:09 a.m.  Police issue a ticket to a driver with only a permit and impound the vehicle.

2:37 p.m.  Police respond to a report of a group of male and female juveniles on both sides of Main Street who pretend to be tugging on a rope causing traffic to stop, then yelling at the drivers.  Youths are gone on arrival.

4:05 p.m.  Police investigate a report that an unknown driver crashed into a stone wall at a residence on Route 94.

4:26 p.m.  Police advise a woman who had left her vehicle running with two children inside while she was inside the town recreation department.

7:14 p.m.  Police issue a traffic ticket to a driver on Route 32.

9:14 p.m.  Police charge a 17-year-old female from Cornwall with criminal mischief after she allegedly damaged her mother’s cell phone during an altercation about its use.

9:21 p.m.  Police respond to a report of a man staggering on Route 9W and COVAC transports him to the hospital to be checked out.


Thursday, May 21
12:05 a.m.  Police takes a report from a woman who says she is receiving harassing phone calls.

7:27 a.m.  Police investigate a report of a vehicle vandalized overnight while parked on Main Street.

2:07 p.m.  Police issue three tickets to a driver on Route 32 after the officer observed the vehicle make a lane change without using a signal.  Vehicle also had a loud exhaust and only one brake light.

7:02 p.m.  Police charge 29-year-old Christopher Locke of Newburgh with driving without a license on Route 9W.

7:35 p.m.  Police give a courtesy ride to an intoxicated male who was walking home to Highland Falls.


Friday, May 22
5:05 a.m.  Police respond to a report of a man trying to harm himself by drinking bleach.

8:45 a.m.  Police respond to a report of an unknown subject entering a garage and a vehicle during the night on Jacqueline Street.  No items were  missing.

9:53 a.m.  Police respond to a report of a large black bear that entered a factory on Industry Drive.  A surveillance camera showed the bear walking into the factory through the loading dock and staying for about two minutes.  The bear then walked out and went into another open door that leads to offices where workers inside the bear, yelled and the bear ran out and went into the woods.

12:55 p.m.  Police respond to a report of a juvenile throwing a bicycle into Canterbury Brook stream, locate the youth and take the bicycle to the police department for disposal by the DPW.

1:33 p.m.  Two callers report a black bear on Mine Hill Road and on Iris Road.

3:02 p.m.  Police respond to a motor vehicle accident in which a school bus knocked off the side mirrors of two vehicles parked on Main Street.

7:35 p.m.  Police assist State Police with locating youths who had thrown rocks off the overpass of Taylor Road and the N.Y. State Thruway, striking two vehicles.  Two juvenile males are found walking on Taylor Road and say they had kicked some gravel off the overpass.  Their parents are notified and later state that they had thrown some rocks and a hubcap.  The juveniles are turned over to the state police.

8:46 p.m.  Police respond to a motor vehicle accident on Route 94.

9:59 p.m.  Police issue a ticket for driving 60 mph in a 45 mph zone on Route 9W.

9:59 p.m.  Police move along a group of juveniles in the parking lot of town hall after hours.


Saturday, May 23
12:10 a.m.  Police charge 33-year-old Joseph Gannon, of Cornwall, with theft of services, third-degree assault and criminal mischief after he allegedly refused to pay his cab fare, then struck the cabdriver.

1:19 a.m.  Police respond to a noise complaint and advise residents to take their party inside.

11:18 a.m.  Police issue a ticket for speeding on Route 9W.

12:23 p.m.  Police respond to the Salisbury Mills train station for a report of a dispute between two passengers over $20 missing from one of them.

3:51 p.m.  Police charge 37-year-old Edgar Lopez-Guerra of Newburgh with driving with a suspended license on Angola Road.


Sunday, May 24
4:15 a.m.  Police respond to Cornwall hospital emergency room for a patient who had been stabbed the hand and arm in Highland Falls and was seeking treatment.

7:58 a.m.  Police issue a ticket to vehicle whose driver did not have an insurance card.

10:47 a.m.  Police investigate a report of three red and green garden gnomes stolen from the front yard of a residence on Harold Avenue.

11:32 a.m.  Police respond to a report of a person receiving harassing text messages.

11:40 a.m.  Police respond to a report of a realty sign on Robert Road that had been spray painted and a hole kicked in it.

6:41 p.m.  Police issue a traffic ticket to a vehicle on Route 32.

8:36 p.m.  Police respond to a report of a fire on Pleasant Hill Road and find a resident burning a large pile of debris.  Fire is extinguished by the fire department and resident advised of the need to get a permit.

9:22 p.m.  Police respond to a report of a reckless driver of the MTA parking lot and find a subject who is giving his teenage daughter a driving lesson.
