Voters approved the $55.9 million 2009-10 budget for the Cornwall Central School District on Tuesday by a final margin of 953 to 524. Property owners in the school district can expect to see their school tax increase 2.76 percent under the new budget, according to the school district.
Incumbent school board members David Carnright and Barbara Manzari were returned to their seats along with Jeanne Lincoln, a former board member who ran unchallenged for the spot vacated by Gregory Whalen.
Fewer voters cast their ballots in the budget vote this year. Last year, 1,834 people voted --1,089 in favor and 765 against.
