The colonial herb garden at Sands Ring Homestead in Cornwall has been awarded a top prize by a state gardening organization.
The Federated Garden Clubs of New York State, Inc., presented the award to the Cornwall Garden Club for its historic preservation and restoration of the garden in the rear of the Sands Ring Homestead. The garden is used by the Friends of the Sands Ring Homestead in their educational program. All fourth grade students in Cornwall spend time at the Homestead learning about Colonial life.
Garden Club president Andrea Hamburger said the club is delighted with the award. "There are 332 garden clubs with more than 10,000 members in the Federated Garden Clubs of New York State, so this award is quite an honor," she said.
