General News: Volunteer Opportunity at U.S. Open
April 21, 2009
Are you a lover of golf? If so, here’s an opportunity to see the U.S. Open this June by volunteering through a Long Island non-profit organization called Hope For Youth.
Hope for Youth has partnered with the concessionaire at the U.S. Open who wants to fill the concession tents at the Bethpage, Long Island golf course, with volunteers instead of paid employees. The group will receive a portion of the proceeds for each volunteer shift completed.
Shifts will be for six hours. Before or after your shift, you will be free to watch the tournament as a spectator. Volunteers must be age 15 or older.
The concession tent may serve a variety of foods such as hamburgers, hot dogs and beverages. As a volunteer you may be expected to grill and serve the hot menu choices as well as serve beverages or be a cashier.
As of November, the U.S. Open is sold out for Thursday through Sunday. Participating in this fundraiser is a great way to see the top professional golfers, a tremendous golf course, as well as to give back to the children, youth and families served by Hope For Youth.
Please call or email Susan Lane to sign up to volunteer by calling 631-782-6540 or emailing [email protected].
