To the Editor:
As we set up the 30 Hour Famine fundraising concert, the hunger and weakness we felt after 24 hours only served to intensify our resolve to go the full 30 hours. Too many people all over the world feel worse than we did on a daily basis, and we knew we were doing something to help.
And help we did! 40+ students and advisors did the Famine, 200 or so attended or put on the concert, and many generous sponsors contributed money, beverages and food. Together we brought in close to $7500 which will feed over 20 children for a year through World Vision’s programs. This is nearly 25% more money than was raised last year!
St. Thomas Youth Group thanks all of you who supported and contributed to this worthy cause. In a time of economic crisis this success shows that if we apply ourselves, make wise choices, and keep our priorities straight, we can truly make a difference in the face of seemingly insurmountable problems. A life saved has eternal ramifications that no one can put a price tag on.
