The village of Cornwall-on-Hudson has a new deputy mayor. At Monday’s re-organization meeting, Mayor Joseph Gross appointed first-term trustee Barbara Gosda to fill the role. She replaces trustee Mark Edsall in the position. Edsall, who has been on the village board since 1999, served as deputy mayor for one two-year term.
In a phone interview, Mayor Gross said that he made the change in deputies because trustee Gosda is more readily available than Edsall, an engineer with McGoey, Hauser and Edsall. “She is retired,” Gross said, referring to Gosda, “she’s got the time to devote.”
Mayor Gross also said that village treasurer Ralph Walters was not re-appointed to his position, although he will continue doing the same work. The mayor indicated that the board is concerned with some of the procedures employed by Walters and will be working to streamline the process.
In addition, two new members of the Riverfront Revitalization Committee were named. Andrew Argenio, a village planning board member who ran an unsuccessful bid for trustee in the March election, and Karen Schaack, a boater and member of the Riverfest committee, were both appointed.

Congratulations, Barbara!
Your appointment is a worthy reflection of your devotion to the Village and the time you take to listen to its residents.
