Police Blotter: March 26-28, 2009

Village of Cornwall-on-Hudson Police Blotter

Thursday, March 26
8:25 a.m. Police respond to an accident on Maple Road involving a West Point Tours school bus that was hit by a vehicle backing out of a driveway whose driver said he didn’t see the bus.  Six children complain of injuries and are transported to Cornwall-on-Hudson elementary school where they are treated by the school nurse and Covac and their parents are notified.

11:04 a.m.  Police issue a ticket to an 18-year-old female from Cornwall for driving 42 mph in a 30 mph zone on Academy Avenue.

12:07 p.m.  Police take possession of a backpack with electronics, including a Garmin street pilot and a Sirius satellite radio, that was found behind the Cumberland Farms store.

2:27 p.m.  Police issue a ticket on River Avenue to a 47-year-old male from Beacon.

9:26 p.m.  Police stop a vehicle whose driver appeared to have trouble operating it because it was stalling, bucking, and jerking.  The registration did not match the vehicle and the inspection sticker appeared to have been scrapped off another vehicle and placed on the windshield.  The 20-year-old male driver from New Windsor blamed his father who, on arrival, says he told his son not to take the vehicle out.  The 20-year-old is issued a ticket for an improper license plate and a ticket for an unregistered vehicle.


Friday, March 27
12:26 a.m.  Police issue a traffic ticket for driving the wrong way on School Alley to a 21-year-old female from New Windsor.

9:46 a.m.  Police respond to a residence to look for a 15-year-old male whose mother called requesting the search because the boy was not at school.

11:34 a.m.  Police issue a ticket on River Avenue to a 52-year-old male from Highland Mills.

12:26 p.m.  Police charge 20-year-old Jordan Gigante, of Cornwall, with driving with a revoked license.

6:27 p.m.  Police issue a traffic ticket on First Street to a 48-year-old female from Cornwall.

6:50 p.m.  Police issue a traffic ticket on Hudson Street to a 19-year-old female from Cornwall.

6:57 p.m.  Police issue a traffic ticket on Hudson Street to a 52-year-old female from Cornwall-on-Hudson.

7:17 p.m.  Police issue a traffic ticket on Hudson Street to a 46-year-old male from New York City.

7:24 p.m.  Police issue a traffic ticket on Hudson Street to a 17-year-old male from Cornwall.

7:31 p.m.  Police issue a traffic ticket on Hudson Street to an 18-year-old male from New Windsor.

8:30 p.m.  Police issue a traffic ticket on Route 9W to a 34-year-old male from Middle Village.

9:27 p.m.  Police issue a ticket to 46-year-old Maureen Langer, of Marlboro, for consuming an alcoholic beverage while operating a motor vehicle.

10:40 p.m.  Police stop a vehicle on Shore Road and perform a field sobriety test on the 26-year-old male driver, who parks his car and walks home.

10:52 p.m.  Police charge 46-year-old Rene Bras of New Windsor with driving while intoxicated after he is observed driving over the traffic island in the village square and is found to have a blood alcohol content of .20.


Saturday, March 28
4:10 p.m.  Police issue a traffic ticket on Bayview Avenue to a 48-year-old male from Cornwall-on-Hudson.

4:27 p.m.  Police issue a traffic ticket on Bayview Avenue to a 17-year-old male from New Windsor.

8:25 p.m.  Police issue a ticket to a vehicle parked without a permit at the riverfront.

10:45 p.m.  Police issue a ticket on Hudson Street to an 18-year-old male from Cornwall.
