Police Blotter: December 24-30, 2006



Sunday, December 24
12:10 a.m. Police issue a vehicle and traffic violations summons on Academy Avenue to Michael Lyons, 26, of New Windsor.
1:09 a.m. Police issue a summons to John Crispo, 26, of Cornwall-on-Hudson, for driving a car with a suspended registration and impound the vehicle.
1:33 p.m. Police respond to a domestic dispute in which the son is giving the father a hard time and says he wants to walk out on the father and does not want to go to the relatives for the holiday.
6:01 p.m. Police open a locked vehicle on Holtz Lane.

Monday, December 25
3:55 p.m. Police respond to a report of an injured deer on Route 9W, dispatch the animal, and notify NYS DOT.
5:51 p.m. Police respond to a report of a canine struck by a vehicle on Homeland Avenue. Driver says he was backing his vehicle when he struck the canine, a white cocker spaniel. Officer removes the dog’s collar with a name of Happy and contacts the owner without success. Dog’s body is transported to the police station and the owner’s son later claims it.
9:14 p.m. Police respond to a request from a woman whose 14-year-old son is supposed to go back to Rockland Psychiatric Center and is refusing. Subject complies after speaking with officer.

Tuesday, December 26
9:32 a.m. Police respond to a criminal mischief complaint on Paula Court where three tires on a resident’s car had been slashed sometime after 1 a.m., when the driver parked the car.
7:19 p.m. Police tell a group of juveniles at Cornwall-on-Hudson Elementary School to move along.

Wednesday, December 27
9:10 a.m. Police respond to a complaint of criminal mischief on Hudson Street and find graffiti on Dr. Seitz’s building and the building next door.
1:13 p.m. Police respond to a complaint of criminal mischief at Nicky’s Restaurant on Idlewild Avenue and find graffiti on the side of the restaurant. Officer canvasses the area and spoke with juveniles who said they had no idea who was tagging the area.
4:05 p.m. Police patrolling the Duncan trails area and observe an empty 18-pack of Budweiser Light and an empty 24-pack to beer. A patrol had been in the same area two weeks earlier and didn’t observe the items.
8:34 p.m. Police advise a group of juveniles on Avenue A to move along.

Thursday, December 28
10:05 a.m. Police open a locked vehicle behind the old Something Sweet cafe.

Friday, December 29
12:16 a.m. Police respond to a report of a male chasing two young females on Hudson Street. Suspect is located behind the Town police department and suspect states that he was running because he was in a hurry and he was not chasing the girls.

7:16 p.m. Police issue a summons for speeding on Route 9W to Charlie Schunk, 43, of Montrose.
7:40 p.m. Police issue summonses for speeding on Route 9W and for driving with a suspended license to Gean Pittman, 26, of Poughkeepsie. Police impound the vehicle.
9:10 p.m. Police stop a vehicle on Route 9W for a broken rear tail light and find the driver’s license was suspended. Police arrest the driver, Jess Jachens, 28, of Monroe.
9:40 p.m. Police issue summonses to Harold Vazquez, 45, of Vails Gate, for a vehicle equipment violation, less than two headlights.
9:52 p.m. Police issue a summons to James Fiona, 33, of New Paltz, for driving 49 mph in a 30-mph zone on Route 218.
9:58 p.m. Police issue a summons to Juan Miranda, 43, of Highland Falls, for driving a vehicle on Route 9W with a suspended and expired registration. Vehicle was impounded.

Saturday, December 30
6:47 p.m. Police respond to a report from a woman saying that her parents had a verbal argument and her mother had left. Caller asked police to check on her father because he is intoxicated and might drive. Police respond to the residence and find he is not home. The man’s wife is contacted and she says she argued with her husband over him not taking his bi-polar medication. Man is later reported to be at St. Lukes/Cornwall Hospital for an evaluation.
