To the Editor:
Once again, as the mayoral election nears, let us ask ourselves what is important to the community we live in? Would it include cutting the environment in favor of a few ratables? Is it important that we develop or change habitable buildings in the Village into mix-use establishments when the Town storefronts remain vacant? Is it important for neighbors to deem natural, growing timbers a hindrance to their views? When we look at the economy in a downturn, is it not fiscal responsibility that our government seeks cost cutting?
Times are changing and our mayor thankfully, recognizes those changes. So, would we not benefit from his frugal tactics, his vision and support for a community where we might benefit from GREEN as a revenue source like windpower, hydroelectric and community gardening. Joe is the type to always look out of the box and listen to those with good ideas. Can one propel in haste and expect to reap the benefits of an important and community changing document like the master plan? We should all appreciate the fact that Joe takes care and feels a responsibility for every citizen in our village and as well as taking in to account economic and environmental issues.
With only two years under his belt, Joe is a survivor and a visionary who grew up and walked these lands we are fortunate to call home. And, with our village election forthcoming we must ask ourselves, what is important to our quality of life? I choose the level headed vision of Joe Gross.

Comments:
Mayor Gross may be in your opinion level headed, but he lacks the business and at times ethical sense for accomplishing the goals of this community.
Could you run the water, police, highway or fire dept. without speaking to the people who have been involved with the day to day operations? Mayor Gross seems to think he can as he created a budget without even speaking to these individuals. It was only when he got publicly blasted for it that he met with them. He tried to deny that fact during the mayoral debate.
Thinking green is a wonderful thing. I strive to do my part everyday, however a Mayor needs not only to think outside the box but have the ability to fully rsearch and understand all the pros and cons before acting on that thought. Mayor Gross has not demonstrated this trait. Why would you propose contracting out custodial positions without at least getting some estimates? I know for a fact he did not.Why are we paying for a grant writer when some will work on percentage (only to be paid once the money is your hands)?
Quality of life is very important but must be maintained with logical business minded sense which Mr. Neuman certainly has an abundance of.
