Dear Cornwall and Cornwall-on-Hudson Community,

My sister Isabelle Kelly and I would like to thank the community for coming out to support us in having a successful blood drive on Saturday, January 24th at the Salisbury Mills Firehouse. Over 150 people came to give blood and 122 pints were collected. Thank you to the Cornwall-on-Hudson website for helping to get the word out.

We are never successful without the help of others. We are extremely grateful to everyone who donated blood or made the attempt to. We appreciate everyone who came to celebrate our grandfather's life with us. We sincerely thank the Salisbury Mills Fire Company and its members for allowing us once again to use their hall. Thank you to Mrs. Christine Staudle for sending our letter out to all the community organizations. Thank you to our principal, Dr. Frank Sheboy for donating on the ALYK machine (with his green socks on) and our teacher Mrs. Eva Whorley for baking delicious cookies. Thank you also to Orange County Sheriff Carl DuBois for donating once again. We couldn't have had a successful drive without help from my Boy Scout Troop 28, my Scoutmaster Tim Wersebe and my Venture Crew 353 leader Mr. Jim Niblo. Thank you for donating your time to this event.

Donating blood is simple and yet so important. One pint saves three lives and a donation on the ALYK machine of packed red blood cells goes directly to cancer patients. Please consider being a blood donor.

Once again, thank you to our awesome community, our classmates, teachers, and friends for supporting us. Thank you for letting us honor our grandfather and father in a way that we hope makes them proud. Finally, thank you to my sister, Isabelle Kelly, for being my partner on this venture and hopefully, many more to come.

Sincerely,
Ian MacDonald,
Eagle Scout, Troop 28,
New Windsor, NY
