Everything is ready to welcome to 2009. |
January 02, 2009
Ray Yannone and his son, Ray, Jr., built a new ball for this year's festivities in the village square. The ball built last year for the New Year's Eve ball drop disappeared during 2008 and Ray, Jr. says the new orb is bigger and glitzier than last year's model.
On Wednesday, local resident Joe Cornish was in the village square as the Yannones installed the ball, lowered it from the roof of the Storm King Theatre, then turned on the lights to make sure it was ready for the midnight run.
Cornish took these photos of the ball, which he shares here. Click on any photo for a larger view.

And a spectacular ball it is. Bravo!
Put it back up on the roof and you'll have to make room for the TV satellite trucks next year!

Thanks once again to the Yannone's for this community service. What a great ball and great way to establish a new tradition! Looking forward to next year.
