Monday, December 1
1:08 a.m. Police issue tickets for an unregistered vehicle and an unlicensed driver to a 31-year-old male.
6:46 a.m. Police respond to a report of a dead deer in the roadway on Angola Road and notify DOT.
4:39 p.m. Police issue a ticket for failure to produce a license during a traffic stop for speeding on Route 9W.
5:30 p.m. Police stop a driver for unauthorized lights and charge the driver with driving without a license. His car is impounded and the three Spanish-speaking female occupants are transported to the Citgo mart where they were picked up.
8:39 p.m. Police respond to a report of a driver on Route 9W who was driving all over the road, and at one point, driving in reverse. Vehicle is located parked on the shoulder of the roadway and the operator appears confused and unaware of his location or residence. No odor or alcohol but the subject did appear to have an altered mental state. He is transported to Cornwall hospital by Covac.
10:45 p.m. Police respond to reports from two callers about a disorderly, possibly intoxicated, man walking along Route 32. Police give the man a courtesy transport home.
Tuesday, December 2, 2008
12:53 a.m. Police issue a ticket for an expired inspection sticker to a vehicle parked at the train station.
1:10 p.m. Police stop a vehicle traveling at 84 mph on Angola Road and charge the driver, 20-year-old Eddie King of Highland Mills, with reckless driving, speeding, and failure to keep right.
4:13 p.m. Police resolve a dispute between two subjects in the parking lot outside Cornwall hospital emergency room.
6:08 p.m. Police respond to a report of a missing 13-year-old child who had left home minutes earlier. Subject is soon located at a neighbor’s house.
Wednesday, December 3
1:42 a.m. Police respond to a noise complaint about patrons at the Shamrock Tavern.
8:07 a.m. Police charge 20-year-old Jeremy Vandervort, of Newburgh, with criminal impersonation in the second degree, a misdemeanor, after he mis-identifies himself when police stop to assist his disabled vehicle. Vandervort gives police a different name and date of birth, saying he had left his license at home. The person whose name he gave had a suspended driver’s license and police move to arrest him for that when he says that he had given a wrong name because he had a suspended license as well.
3:21 p.m. Police respond to a minor motor vehicle accident on Dragon Drive.
4:05 p.m. Police respond to a call from a woman locked inside a bathroom who says there is a violent domestic incident going on at the location and the suspect doesn’t know she is on the phone with the police. Police arrive and arrest the 42-year-old male from Cornwall, charging him with unlawful imprisonment and assault in the third degree, both misdemeanors, and harassment in the second degree, a violation. The man is re-arrested three days later and charged with aggravated harassment after he contacted his wife and requested that she drop the charges against him. Subject is sent to Orange County jail in lieu of $5,000 bail and an order of protection is issued.
8:41 p.m. Police respond to a car vs truck accident with injuries on I-87. One child is taken to Arden Hill hospital.
Thursday, December 4
10:16 a.m. Police respond to a report of a suspicious male and assist subject to Cornwall hospital for mental observation.
10:30 a.m. Police take a report of a racial slur painted on a street sign.
Friday, December 5
1:44 a.m. Police respond to a report of shots fired, possibly by hunters, in the vicinity of the train trestle and observe fresh tire tracks. At 2:26 a.m. police notice an ATV headlight and check area without results. At 3:49 a.m. two police officers respond to a report of gunshots in the area, canvas the area and locate two ATVs operating deep in the woods. Officers are unable to interview or detain the subjects due to the terrain.
7:01 a.m. Police respond to a report of a deer hit by a car on Angola Road.
12:19 p.m. Police take a report from a female who says her former boyfriend is sending her threatening text messages and phone calls.
12:50 p.m. Police respond to a minor motor vehicle accident in the parking lot of Cornwall Plaza.
1:00 p.m. Police on patrol observe what appears to be a butchered animal carcass in garbage bags located in the hiking parking lot on Taylor Road, adjacent to state park lands. Bags contain butchered parts of a deer and officer notes that reports of shots fired in the area were received early that morning.
Saturday, December 6
6:10 p.m. Police respond to two reports of lights flashing in the area of Otterkill Road and Schunnemunk Mountain but do not observe anything.
7:56 p.m. Police investigate a report of a group of juveniles running door-to-door in the area of Shore Drive, ringing door bells and running away.
Sunday, December 7
3:08 a.m. Police respond to a report of an injured deer on Route 32 and dispatched the animal.
9:36 p.m. Police issue a ticket for driving 63 mph in a 45 mph zone on Route 9W.
